Just got mine in the mail today!

It feels like quite the improvement coming from the first generation - it feels faster and smoother, and the display!

Anybody else here get one yet?

(Also, posted from my iPad )

Responding on an iPad 1st Gen here (I felt it was appropriate) . I've been thinking about getting one but I'm undecided between iPad 2 and iPad 3 but the new display is very tempting. What's the battery life like?

Responding from my iPod 2, I have to say I'll wait out on the 3rd gen. Screen does look drool worthy though.

Posting from my Vita.

If I could afford to get one right now, I would. I will save up for a couple of months and then join the iPad ranks.

Posting from my laptop.

I still don't understand tablets! I bet I typed this in half the time it would've taken you, and I'm lying in bet with it resting on my lap and the screen pointing at me without having to hold it up. So ergonomic and convenient!

Agreed to the average person it's just a toy. However I can type almost as fast on the ipad as I can with a regular keyboard. The onscreen one is a bit smaller, and there's no 'click' sound when hitting a key.

I actually showoff my ipad more then actually use it.

I have iPad2 and yeah its more of a very very expensive toy to keep me and the family entertained, I also show it off by taking it out in public and makeing it look like im doing somthing incredibly important like playing angry birds!

See no use in a tablet, as I have an laptop and a phone - on which i pay 60$/month for unlimited internet, sms and call (calls to those in the same company)

So: since i have unlimited internet, and i can surf and check my Email on my phone i see no use in a tablet, and i see nothing which it can do that my PC cant :/

and: theyre too big, i prefer my phones as small as possible, and i would love to have one of those laptops which fits inside a pocket x)

The result of origin.. Oh and ponies

Haven't seen the new display yet and really really don't want to as I will probably instantly hate the iPad 2 that I love

They were doing a story on the peps waiting in line yesterday morning and I was quit shocked at how crystal clear and smooth the screen looked on film, through a store window zoomed in.

On a side note, Apple stock is down, lol?

Can't comment yet on the battery life, as I'm only charging it up fully for the first time today. I absolutely love the screen though.

It is probably a less spectacular transition from an iPad 2 but from an iPad 1 it is very, very nice. It was always a little frustrating having my phone (iPhone 4S) look better and run faster, but now they feel like comparable experiences.

As for the toy comments - I think this issue has been beaten to death, but for what it is worth I have the whole iWorks suite on mine and have used it for papers on numerous occasions. I will admit that I usually hook up my wireless keyboard for big writing sessions, but I have yet to have any circumstance where that would be less convenient than using a laptop. As the OS matures and more useful apps are made available, I think the argument that a tablet can't replace a PC is fading rapidly, especially for the ordinary consumer.

I'm so jealous... the new iPad has a higher resolution display than my PC screen.

I ordered the 64GB model from Apple.ca the other day, and it will take a few weeks to be delivered. Somehow I managed to sell my iPad 1 for $250 a few days ago, so at least I have some of that cost covered

What I sometimes wonder is why would you need THAT much pixels. I mean, on my 1080p monitor I can barely see pixels. Obviously the iPad is closer to your face, but to double it on a surface not even a fourth of my screen, it seems overdone.

I prefer my galaxy note, mostly because it has android and because it's small enough to carry in your pocked but big enough to be used as a tablet

Yeah the new screen resolution is going to screw me in terms of app development , Im 6 months in to developing a large-scale iPad app and for some reason I didn't consider the possibility that the new iPad will have more pixels. All of my UI elements are positioned with fixed-point values, going to take quite a while to fix all of that. Doh

Hopefully Apple releases a tool that automagically fixes the sizes.

Fixed point UI element positions are evil anyways, you should use something more adaptable (although I admit that isn't always easy!)

+1 to what Jeku said, the computer is great and so is the iPad! They both have their time and place to be used...
