Hi everyone... I know I havnt been on for a year or two but I really need you help. I know there are a lot of good tech people on the forums and I ask of you to please help me... My little brother wanted to transfer the guts from his computer to my old one which had a better motherboard. When everything was complete we turned the computer on and I was getting no display. Only the fans were spinning. The CD and DVD drive is using an IDE cable and they wont even power up. I unplugged the RAM and put it back in and I got display but after the motherboard screen it just went black and a text popped up saying "NO HARD DRIVE FOUND, PLEASE INSTALL RECOVERY DISKS." I cant do this because the CD drives wont open so I ran some diagnostics and it only finds the hard drive, RAM, and motherboard. They all passed except the hard drive. It got a BIO-HD 8 error. If you can help with this answer please answer asap. Thanks

How is the hard drive connected? If it's an older drive, are the jumpers set up correctly? (Not sure if that makes a difference)

Ok well we just moved everything back to the old case and now it says "No Boot Device Available" Does this mean it had failed?

Check your MOLEX cables

did you swap over the old PSU?

can you list what exactly was in each pc... and also the condition your old board was in during idleness... room condition etc

I dont know what the molex cables go to. I have a lot of them but nothing. The hard drive should be detected in SATA 0 but it has Unknown ID. I double checked all the cables and they are fin but the CD and DVD drives still wont power up because they are not being detected as master or slave. Drive 0, Drive 5, and Drive 6... Nothing is working ATM.

Can you detail everything you have setup... you might find going back overeverything might help you realise what you missed out...

and can you clarify you are using the same PSU or not?

MOLEX is the connector for IDE devices commonly...

SATA use a SATA power connector...

I honestly think that the hard drive has failed. I am using the same PSU and I dont see anything that connects to the molex cables. I have tried reconnecting the cords and put it in SATA 0 but still not Boot Devices available. I am running out of luck. SOL

I am unsure you are even looking in the correct places...

Can you state the actual Devices make and type

including your motherboard make/model...

ensure in BIOS you set DEFAULT or SAFE MODE defaults...

I set to default and I found that you need to power the CD adn DVD drives with the MOLEX cables so now they open. I think if I put the Recovery CD that it will boot up.
