How can I do this? I know that UDK requires the model format .FBX I believe. The models from fpsc are in .X . What would be the best way to convort the .X to .FBX along with getting the textures compatable to? I know this can be tough but I'm willing to give it a shot.

Thanks

Nilloc

Milkshape works perfectly right out of the box, without addons etc.

You can import directX and export as .ASE, .PSK, .PSA and .FBX

Personally, I recommend the Fragmotion. Fragmotion has a great directX importer and in the latest version is a possibility to export models to .FBX files.

Thanks all. UDK does use the .dds file format for textures? Or must I convort these to?

In UDK I use tga. I also recommend using the Nvidia texture tools from the developer tools on Nvidia's site. With them you can select any image file, right click and convert it to any any other image file format and size. I can convert hundreds of images in seconds without opening any software like photoshop or gimp.

There is something else you need to do as well to use them in another engine. I can't remember exactly how to go about it but you have to email someone and let them know you accept the terms and agreements. I need to do this as well so if someone can remember where I read this and can point us in the right direction I would appreciate it. I also contact the creators of the free stuff around here and ask their permission as well. You don't want to find out too late someone intended to only let their stuff be FPSC specific. Whenever I download free or purchased media I always list the model, texture artist and email address in an excel file to quickly track these things.

Well the best way would to be is to contact the creator of the pack so since I'm going to make Model pack 38 UDK ready I should ask bond1 and if you don't know the creator then probably contact TGC themselves.

I have some vertexes to fix but proof of concept on the TF341. Hope you don't mind Errant.

I have them setup to use the base UTbot skeleton and animations. Nothing fancy. Takes about 20 minutes a piece from start to finish to rig and script. Of course the real talent is Errant AI and the modeling and texturing of course.

close up
p.s. I have my settings in UDK messed up trying to get more performance out of them. That's why everything has a blue tint.

Very nice I havnt got anything else done yet been extra busy with school might try to get more udk ready. I think im going to try to get the viral outbreak into UDK. Oh and as a resident evil fan I noticed alot of those models have quite a resemblence to a few in resident evil.

Of course not, that would be easy...and its never easy. Gotta convert them to tga or png.

Also: You can use milkshape or fragmotion to convert that jazz. If you insist on using some other software, you can download the autodesk FBX converter. That thing however does either refuse to save smoothing groups or saves every group of your mesh as a single model.

And remember: once you use UDK: Its never easy
