I was looking at DevilLiger's post about his audio gear, and then a few more people said that they had some audio gear, so I thought it would be a change to have an Audio Gear thread.

When you work on games for a long time, the one thing you notice is that you need good music for your games. You put things on YouTube, and you use commercial music, and then get a message off YouTube saying that it is commercial music, but they leave it up anyway.

Well, it doesn't hurt to get some Audio gear, and here is mine...

just because they leave it up it doesnt mean it should stay up. They do not have any responsibility to take it down, that one, is yours...

Youtube does however activly take such things down...

At any rate: thats pretty much a douche move, you take someones music and leave it up for everyone to hear - its pretty much piracy in a sense.

And i do know you didnt exactly say you did it, but lots of people do, and if youre trying to make it into the gaming industry, but rip other people off.. its kinnda double standards isnt it?

In case you didn't notice. The thread is about not using commercial music. The big black thing is called a keyboard, you press keys, and get sounds, and don't rip anyone off.

And yes i did notice that too, and as you said: it is about not using commercial music, thus my "rant" is perfectly valid.

Ah! Anger issues? I have those. Sometimes i have to move away from my computer when programming doesnt quite work out or else i might end up with a non working computer... other than that im a nice person! I would show a picture my my audio gear but it isn't quite view worthy seeing as its just some crappy speakers built into my laptop... To this day, after owning my lappy (thanks for the term MrValentine) for 2 and a half years, i still cant for the life of me figure out where the two speakers under the speaker grill are...

Please try to keep it on topic guys... well, try a little harder anyway.

@Pincho: Nice, wish I had me some of that gear! All I really have for recording is a couple of keyboards (granted, they are good keyboards), a pair of not-so-good-anymore headphones, some half-decent speakers hooked up to a hifi (that I can run audio through) and a Tascam portastudio. I usually do recording direct to the PC though, since the quality is not bad and it's a lot less messing around.

Need to get myself a basic mixer at some point, as well as a proper keyboard amp and some effects pedals. Kinda difficult doing gigs without my own amp.

Kezzla, aside from slight hints of terrible encoding sound effect and sounding somewhat like Resident Evil Afterlife theme... its kind of half likable and half creepy

Thankyou Mr Valentine, I wrote that not long after getting reason, so yeah, the sound effects were laid on heavy . I kinda like things muddy when muddy is called for, and muddy was called for.

just looked up resident evil afterlife theme, perfect circle eh, i guess I'll take that as a complement.

edit: ok, found marylin manson intro, I take it you meant that one, there are some similarities. We may have used some same base synths. Ill still take it as a compliment.

I have an HP with Beats Audio and a small crappy mic built in to the top of my computer, if that counts...
But if you count all of the equipment in my house....
7 Guitars
Casio 80 effect keyboard
Several effects pedals
Synthesizer
300 watt stereo with bass boost
USED TO HAVE a pair of Turtle Beach PX21 headphones. (Shorted out)
Around 5 guitar amplifiers
and that's about it I think. But most of that stuff is my brother's equipment. I hope to be learning to play piano soon, it's a great instrument to learn and to play.

Sadly I don't make music, because I'm a talentless hack with no attention span.

However, I love listening to music. My baby's first hi-fi setup is a Yamaha RXV-371 amp, wired to a pair of Mission MV2s. Plays blurays from my BD75 Panasonic, my XBox, and I run my X1050 Walkman through the Blu-ray's USB. Nothing world-breaking, but I love it:

The TV is a cheapie 32" LG model. I recently bought a new stand in black glass, so everything looks a little less stupid now.

Out and about. it's my trusty X1050 Walkman, and a pair of Sennheiser OCX880s.

That's a really nice table.

I actually own much of the equipment DevilLiger listed (the first 2, among some others) I don't usually record though, at least not anymore.

Haha! I have the exact same model, that thing is a relic!

How are you keeping yours together? My secret is an extra fan glued to the GFX card, and the backplate hammered so it would fit in the reverse case configuration. My one's about six years old now, a miracle the piddly 320gb HDD and the motherboard are still going, everything else has been replaced since...

The idea of the thread was to get games makers thinking about their music creation. Some of you must have guitars, drum kits, keyboards. If you don't, then it is something for a games maker to consider when Christmas is coming up.

Hey I got a question that is somewhat related to this thread. What is good audio equipment that is used for making a digital video production anywhere and for voice acting in video games? I think it may be a good shotgun mic? But what is a good one for the two.

Depends on how much you want to spend. The cheapest option might be to use PC software, and a mic. The more expensive option is to buy a vocal processor, mixer, 4 track recorder, amp, and a mic.

I have added a Korg padKontrol to my gear. That's the black box with white buttons on the left. It's a midi controller that is mostly used as a drum machine, but you can program it to do a lot of things.
