I made something that might go with this theme. I never actually modeled steampunk themed media before so here it is without textures.

Model 1873 with a steampunk-y scope.

Still needs to be animated.

I'm glad you like it cosmic. I have started on the texture and still toying with the types of materials that the pieces should be made of.

Here is a first textured version using bronze and brass.

Ok Dale. After you called me because I didn't reply to your email (LOL), and talking with Cathy last night, we're in. We'll be doing some media for your pack and get it sent to you when completed for your review.

Great idea for a pack, Id love to see weapons, and also large items, either buildings, or large things to add to buildings to make them fit the theme.
Small items are nice, but its the large ones that bulk a level out that are most important.

I've made and animated a sort of hypotenusal-piston-type-thing (an idea I got from Bioshock 2), but I wanted to make it out of brass or gold. Can anyone think of an animation-compatible shader I could couple it with? I've tried a couple by uzi idiot and from Metro Theater but none of them look right (and some of them don't work at all).

Here is The "Awesome" Steampunk Compass donated by Starmind.

Ignore the video tag, that was placed there by youtube, I suppose because I uploaded the video to my account. This was made by Starmind.

This was so cool, I had to show it off. Thanks Buddy!!

And thanks to Blackfox for the video capture, and testing.

No problem, my pleasure. I never travel the Rolfy Desert without a trusty pointing device while searching for the lost Treasure Chest of Ross. One could get lost quite easily without it.

It should be noted that this compass will only work in v1.18 and up, since it uses the "dimvar" command as well as variables from the variable system.

Nice work on this, Starmind.

Since you texture was a little bland, I added my own flare to it and made you this. I must point out that the uv map was well done, so good job. Email sent back to you and enjoy!

For youtube to work use this and only use the letters after the =.

Thanks guys on the compass.

J Swain: probably sometime in June. It will then need to be approved by TGC, so it may be as late as the first of July before it's ready for sale.

Here's a wall clock I made.

Only diffuse and model shown in picture, no lightmapping or anything.

1024x1024 diffuse texture
760 tris

Didn't come out exactly like I wanted, but hey, someone might get some use out of it.

Will be getting FPSC-ready shortly.
(and adding normal maps and specular maps and stuff)

Looks good

So I animated the rifle.. But the animations kinda.. what's the word? Suck

If anyone is willing to take a shot at doing some animations that don't suck, I'd be more than happy to give you the model.

I tested out my spiderbot in fpsc and here are a few pics of it.

This first image has 3 pics taken while it preformed 3 out of 4 animations that I have made already. They include walking, attacking, and shutdown (death)

While taking those, I asked myself, "Is this ragdoll compatible?" well I gave it a ragdoll script and this happened.

I welcome c&c on the spider and any suggestions for additional animations as well. The copper body was traded up for Iron. It is small in fpsc for now (you can step on it and kill in fpsc). There will most likely be 3 sizes of it.

I will also see about making a couple more Steampunk Bots.

Even if you didn't like how it came out you didn't need to say anything.

Because I don't see anything wrong with it and really like it!

Ross, you always come up with stuff that I wouldn't eve think of doing (if I could do any of this of course).

Hi guys, just checking in. Looks like we've got some great stuff in the works.

Here's something I thought we needed. After all, you need "something" to shoot at!

"The Steam Trooper"

In-Game test:

He's just a simple re-mesh, and texture of the Star Wars "Stormtrooper" I made while playing around with henry's Character creation kit. But I think he'll fit in with this theme fairly well when I get him done.

Steam trooper. I love it.

Can anybody remember who did the character, Big Daddy Dan? This could be a steam thingy character. Here is an image. I usually have available for myself who has made free entities but I don't for this one.

Dunno...looks like its a fan build of a Steampunk Dalek....unless the actual photograph retains intellectual property rights(kinda unlikely since its mostly just to show the Dalek model) then no harm done as its merely used a small crop for texture.

Awesome! Its one of those threads.
