Steam has now closed down voting on Greenlight. Hopefully they will approve RTA as they go through all existing games. If not I can get a refund.

Here's a video I made last week, playing from the beginning of the game. I have been so busy lately so I haven't had the time to post it here

When I woke up this morning I had received an email from Steam that Rush to Adventure was Greenlit

Thanks for voting everyone!

I visited the page and see that it has been Greenlit but couldn't buy it yet. Really wanted to buy it and play it. Do you think it will be released one day so I can buy it? lol

Been fixing bugs this week, will have time to work some more on it this weekend. Still some time before release

Still don't have all my paperwork verified yet. That will hopefully happen soon. But who knows how busy they are now that a lot of games got greenlit all at once.

Soon

It all depends on how long things take to do and how much time and energy I have.

I have made spawn animations for the bosses and have started on death animations. Nothing fancy but better than nothing

The list is only getting shorter!

Been fixing stuff here and there since my last post. Only got 4 items left on my todo list!

This is not including the editor, which wont make it to the initial release. There's quite a bit of work required to make it ready for release and the game has to support custom levels as well.

One of the things remaining is a spellcheck. Anyone good with English spelling and grammar who would like to look through all the text in the game?

Hopefully you can get it out soon in time to capitalize on all of the traffic during the Steam summer sale. I'd guess this has to be about the busiest (most traffic) time of year at Steam. Of course I definitely understand you don't want to rush it.

I can give the text a quick read and let you know of anything that stands out.

It's not going to be ready for the summer sale.

I also don't think it's wise to launch during that time since people are looking for those 50-90 % off sales.

Hi Digital Awakening, can you add your game to the new showcase on the AppGameKit site? I'd like to make it a featured title.

Finally, all the paperwork for Steam has been submitted and approved

This has given me access to a lot of stuff to read and prepare before the release!

It's so close now

I am excited for you and all of the progress you've made on this. You've really put your heart into it for years now! I think it ties in nicely with a lot of the retro-themed games people like and I remember playing one of the early alphas many years ago. One AppGameKit game I put up for greenlight consideration also got approved but I have no ETA when I'll even have the chance to work more on it (it was originally for a short competition).

I will be attending a small convention on Saturday. Will be interesting to see how my changes to the beginning of the game will work out. Had lots of problems with new players not understanding how to get started last time I was at a convention.

All known bugs are fixed and I intend to complete the game during my upcoming 2 week vacation, starting Monday. I want to add one more enemy type and then I need to make sure everything works and I have to set proper s-rank scores for all levels.

I plan to work on distribution and marketing in August.

Thanks Gar

The feedback from the last convention was very positive. This time there will be more retro gamers around and probably less kids since it's in the afternoon-evening. So I predict that it will be a hit Hopefully people that will help me spread the game. I only wish it was already out on Steam.

So last week I added a new enemy type. Spikey hides in his shell for a short period when you get close. He takes no damage while the shell is down and if you attack while the spikes are out, you take damage instead. Really changes up the gameplay so the mid-game levels feels less repetitive. In addition I've made it so both shelled enemies can no longer be damaged by dive attacks.

I have also been playing through the game again. Adjusting the S-rank score requirement. I have also been adjusting the difficulty of some levels by adding platforms or removing/adding enemies. Additionally I have altered some enemy timers. Still have the end game content left. The final 5 levels and 5 bosses.

Some other minor fixes includes fading out the HUD when the player gets too close to it, which can happen on some levels due to the new camera.

Time for an update!

I have been going through all levels, altering some platforms and enemies to tweak the difficulties. There has also been a number of changes to enemy timers and other stats. Overall the game feels better now.

I am currently working on setting up the Steam Store page. When that is done and approved the game will become visible as "Coming soon". At this time you will be able to add Rush to Adventure to your wishlist and get a notification when it's released. I plan to release the game early September.

This coming week is the last at my current day job and I will start working on games full time after that. There will be a lot of work on the release and marketing and competitions. Exciting times

Yeah

The reason this is my last week is because the office is closing down. I will however get paid for the rest of the year so it's actually quite nice. Sure, things might get terrifying later

I am now waiting for approval by Steam. I plan to put together a demo soon since most people I have talked to seem to think that the game is better than it looks.

Yeah

And realized I had another more serious bug when switching between difficulties and save files. That has also been taken care of. That's why it's important to write these things down immediately when you spot them.

Finally done with the demo. Got approved by Steam last week but I wanted to add a demo before going live with the store page. The game will still be "coming soon" I want to see if I can get achievements added and a working Mac build before launch.

If anyone want to try out the demo before I put it up on Steam you can download it here: http://www.digitalawakening.se/stuff/RTA_Demo.zip

Feedback is much appreciated

Awesome. I couldn't find it on steam. Your link works, but I don't know my password to sign on without the steam app. And, just too lazy to recreate one.. haha. Let us know when its out. I am buying this.

It reminds me of a very popular android game(and of course Zelda) - sans pixelated vs. 3d. I can't think of the name, atm.

Since AppGameKit now supports dlls I am hoping to be able to use the Steam API. Haven't tried it yet though.

Golelorn:
It's not on Steam just yet. The link is to a zip file containing the demo. But it should be up on Steam very soon, I hope.

Apparently you need to have the demo go through the same verification process as the game. So it will take a few days for it to appear on Steam.

I have launched the store page now. If you add it to your wishlist on Steam you will receive a notification when the game is released. There will be a discount at launch.

I messed up with the demo upload. I was wondering why it took them longer this time to approve my build this time.

I had forgotten to put my build live! Fixed that this morning but now I have to wait even longer.

The demo finally got approved today and I published it but it still hasn't shown up on the game's page.

Got to go to bed now. Will visit an indie game education program tomorrow and talk about me, RTA and my company. Hopefully I will be invited back to talk about game design and programming

Hopefully another education will start nearby in January, with more focus on programming over design. Exciting times
