You know what this reminds me of? All those secret tunnels the Germans dug towards the end of WW2, where they built their aircraft and V-Weapons etc.

Nice work

Lol you can use it in X10.The collision is just worse, X10 doesn't like single face meshes, and has rendering issues.

Yup, that one works/loads without a log.

Addendum:

I like that small tunnel/crevice or whatever it is where you have to jump to crawl into it. I at first thought I would have to do a combination of jump then crouch; but, didn't need to. Is there no collision for the top of the tunnel?

Nope.I left it like that tunnel was big enough,and in testing I didn't get stuck, so never noticed.

Hi there.

@wizard of id
Your design is really impressive, the walls seem very real, and the distribution of the light is very accomplished...some views of the cave, remember me to the movies of World War II in Germany ...Great job indeed.

Cheers.

Lol So I have been busy with cave 3, pretty much nearly had it, trying to place every thing and making sure every thing is correct.

This is sort of a maze cave the smallest of the 3,I had to include a screenshot of the editor to explain the layout better.I recon this by far the best, but so far the most annoying to get done.

Still not as small as I would have liked it.I have decreased the ceilings to 1.20 units and the floor width is now 1.50 units, I do think this is about the limit any smaller will likely just cause issues.

So I still need to sort out the other issue of ailment of cave 3, but I am really tired now, so will fix that a bit later tomorrow and upload it with the fixes.For now enjoy the screens.

Lithunwrap, for centering and converting format.
FPS segment creator, For importing.
XSI 7 Essential, for creating the meshes.

I should do a tutorial again one day, when I have time.If there is any demand for it, I might get to it sooner.

Well hello guys decided to drop by and show what I have been busy with.So I complete cave 5 and meh still one or two things I am not happy with.Over all the cave is fine it's the concrete sections in between I am still working on.

Other than that I decided to add one more cave, cave 6 the final cave then.Decided on a water themed cave, with running water ect...so that will take another couple of days.

Just to give you some idea, cave 5 has over 84 parts in it, importing and placing alone take over 2 hours

I am aim cave 6 to be the most complex most of the lot

But I am not going to spoil that with any wip screens, youre just going to have to wait

Well it is done, I need to compressed the .X files a bit, it's clocking in at 120mb and 56MB for all the textures, then I have used media from then stock media upgrade, so need to transfer those files as well.Check all meshes.So still a few days

Hey WizardOfId don't forget that me and Cosmic Prophet are willing to help you in the transferring step. Could i suggest you

1) setting a ftp server on your machine;
2) allow one of us to pick the files
3) after picking the files we upload them anywhere you want

Keep it up !!

DarthBasicVader,well the problem is not so much the uploading, as the lack of a proper connection speed.Currently on GPRS, which is gives me upload speed of about 5.0kb/s so my problem is not the uploading, but usually the time it takes, most uploading websites time out before it is done

WoI, that is a bummer! Can you break them up in smaller files? That's what Cosmic does. I mean, you can maybe go really small for each file and not to worry about how many files you have.

Lol so I did as much compressing as possible about 9Mb a cave set.So will be uploading each cave set,individually during the day tomorrow and you can pop them in.

However the bad news is that, I did away with some textures and kept one generic set, however I will include the jpegs versions of these textures as there is a nice set of green oozing gunk bricks that I will include, spent a few hours doing them, will be a pity to let them go too waste.

So watch this space tomorrow.

Just a warning again these are pretty high polygon,ideally it needs per pixel light mapping so building or testing requires that you at least use a 1024 lightmap and 50 lightmap quality to gets some decent results and fast Computer is needed, and you will have to add walls and doors to make use of culling.I hit a limit of about 285 thousand polygons before I get slow down worth pulling my hair out.

They are also pretty big, so be careful where you place the first segment or else you will run out of mapping space.
