Project M is searching for new 3d models , characters (with animation),
ideas and all kinda of new funky ways to approach a video game.

the project is Solid.
a 3rd person shooter game
with multiplayer capabilities.

you can check it at http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=196473&b=8 , you can download the pre version to feel the game atmosphere , think what can you add to the game to make it perfect.

if a model is decided to do good for the game the author will get credited in the credit menu which i just completed .
also if you have facebook join me at facebook , Nadav Rosenberg got a picture with a guitar.

the credit menu i built uses a face texture which i download from your facebook profile picture.
kinda cool looking credit menu.

hey! can you specify what kind of animations would be needed? (run, jump, shoot, die, victory-pose.. what eles?^^) Also, would you prefer characters who all share the same animation cycles or rather have *individual*, crazy characters (like, say a cartoonish pirate captain linping around on his woodaen leg and shooting his gun vs. a clown throwing pies) etc? Did I get the funky / cartoony part right at all?^^

pirate sounds cool will look great with the barrels

ok so animations:

run,jump,shoot,reload

well.. you know what lets do it crazy style.. what ever you can come up with will be good

i dont need a die animation cause i want to check other options maybe a fire particles that consumes the model or something

and when i'll add physics i'll probably go on and add ragdolls

i'll build a character class so it will hold the new models each can has its induvidual properties and see how we can move from there on farward to other mechanics.

i usally do
40 frames for each action

so its
0 .. 40 - walking
40 .. 80 - running
80 - 120 - shooting

etc..

but it dosent have to be this way
just write down how many frames each action takes and what its start point i'll do the rest.

3 levels of floors and walls




theme
-----

created a theme class for the game.
the game consist of 3 levels
each level has its own Wall Texture and Floor Tile Texture
the game also posses 3d Barrels , one normal and one explosive.
and ofcourse 4 vectors of 2 team character models and textures.

if you want to help try to approach it in this way, the picture above shows the levels of floors and walls .

Hey mate! got started on a piratey Character But I'm away over the weekend (starting on Friday^^), so I'll get back to it on Monday or something
attached is a possible explosive barrel (just retextured the other one) - use it if you like or change it to fit your needs!

dude that looks really nice! now i can also Y rotate the barrel so each will face a diffrent direction, well done!

that looks awesome!
the deal with the game is that each character will have one gun to play with kinda character associated weapon.

so a clown may shoot pies
a soldier can use this SCAR gun

i'll keep this gun in mind.

3D Character with Animations

a 3d Character Requirement - what ever you can comeup with is good by me , the idea behind is a character with one type of shooting
wether its a gun or from his hands or mouth whatever..
it can jump, walk , run , stay idle and shoot

animations:

idle
walking
running
jumping
shooting
reloading


the Barrel
----------
a Barrel Requirment

the barrels are a big part of the game altough these are just static objects , the bring alot of flavor to the game

the barrel can be any type of barrel if its wooden or metalic or maybe futuristic barrel or a really old one , whatever you can come up with is fine be me .

there are 2 kinds of barrels
1 normal barrel that players can hide behind
2 explosive barrel that player will take distance from

if you can supply an imposter with each it will be wonderfull altough i can make them by my self not a problem.

Game Textures
-------------
a game have 3 levels of height
level 0 - ground
level 1 - center
level 2 - top

each level have its own wall texture and its own floor texture
this way each level looks totaly diffrent or just a tiny bit diffrent or the same... its up to you.

you can see in the WIP post how the game looks and also to download it.

just thought of a character

a Tank.. yes a flying 1 meter above the ground tank of some kind

so you see .. your character dosent have to be a even a humanoid
can be alien or magna or a cool walking super mario flower that shoots fire balls from its head!?

ahh this is too crazy but well worth the afford.

What are you looking for as far as poly count and texture size?

LBFN, I've got a few constructive crits for your SCAR model, if you don't mind.

First of I'd like to say that the text you've applied works well for the most part, especially on the main part of the weapon. However it looks like you've spent loads of polys on the barrel of the weapon, which will hardly be seen by the player. I've circled these so you know what I mean. These polys would be far better spent bevelling at least the rear of the handle and smoothing out the back part of the weapon.

Also, there's no trigger :p

On side note I see you're using Milkshape. If I were you I'd give Blender a good look (it's free) as, from what I can remember of Milkshape, Blender has a fair few more handy tools.

(Sorry for hijacking your thread, haliop)

Not at all, thank you for taking the time to share. You could have posted in the Scar thread and I would have seen it.

Blender =
Blender has tons of features, but I hate it's interface. I realize Milkshape does not have the nuts and bolts that Blender does, but I enjoy using it. I especially like using it to animate stuff.
