hey guys, im working on a project, and i need an unlimited storage online where i can store my files and get an http link for the download out of it.
where i can upload files using a folder (like dropbox) or ftp (in worst case)

any ideas for good storage for that?

(im not looking for free one, i willing to pay for it.)

You're best bet is to email a few of the server companies with your requirements and see what advice they give you. It does sound like ftp would be your better option but I'm sure you can assign any folder on your desktop as a short cut to it.

Well, Google Drive works just like Dropbox, but has a really reasonable pricing scheme, but I guess it depends on how much storage space you need(if you truly need unlimited space, then nevermind ). They give you 5gb for free, 100gb for 5$ pr month, but you can upgrade to a maximum of 16tb. You could check that out.

as mentioned before, look around locally for a data centre that will offer you expandable storage at a premium per gigabyte...

but how could you require so much Pi space?

Dreamhost is great for the "Unlimited" thing.

http://dreamhost.com

If you use 30DAB you can get $30 off it (I also get some special referral thing).

Dreamhost has gone down the pan recently. They are not as good as they used to be. Connections are always very slow and services are often down.

I would advise away from them, used to be good, but now they aren't.

There's no such thing as unlimited. If they offer unlimited, I'd stay away.

If you need massive requirements (whole computer(s) all to yourself), you might be best off purchasing and hosting your own hardware. Look up the term "colocation".

I agree they haven't been 100% reliable, maybe less so than self-managed servers or other smaller services. But its just a trade-off imo. Then again, I don't host anything financially sensitive with them.

The price to use an "unlimited" host is considerably less in terms of hardware and management than to co-locate something. Especially with the current price in drives. Should a drive fail (even with raid) it'll cost you a pretty penny. Not something I suggest for the inexperienced.

You'll also notice my Unlimited being wrapped in quotes. You're right about that. No such thing as unlimited. As soon as you use more than your "fair share" they'll cut you off. Which can suck I guess..

I don't have any issues with dream host, then again I don't host anything of vital importance.

You could give Amazon's S3 service along with http://www.s3fm.com/ (as your file manager) a try. S3 is pretty expensive in some cases though, so you'll want to read up on it. Also, I've never used s3fm before so use it at your own risk.

I use S3 for my projects (MyGameSync and some stuff at my last job), and absolutely swear by it. It doesn't seem that expensive, actually, but then again most of the things I use it for are personal.

im working on an application now that needs ultimate storage.. its like game updater for ur games. store all the data files via an application in that space, then launch an updater to load all files up..
