Hi all, you may have heard of my game, Malevolence: The Sword of Ahkranox. We had a try at crowdfunding using IndieGoGo which didn't end up making it anywhere, but we're back again on KickStarter and already in under a week we've reached nearly half our goal!

Please, if you can, check it out, and remember that sharing the link around and posting it where you can is just as good as contributing yourself!

Here's the link to the KickStarter page:

Thank you in advance! If you'd like to read more about the game, click my signature below!

Nice presentation of your game there, I'm totally broke at the moment but next month I'll throw a few dollars your way.
I've looked at your game before but this is the first time I've read about the actual game mechanics. It's impressive and bold. I wish Elder Scrolls was as innovative, honestly Skyrim is a pile of crap.

I am very interested in procedural generation, I am working on creating procedural "cultures" but I'm new to PG and making very slow progress. I want to create creatures, names and spacecraft that follow similar styles that are easily distinguished as being part of the same culture/species. Your quest generation is interesting and I will need something like that too.

It's difficult to find any useful information about PG so if you have any advice I'd be most grateful.

[edit] One more thing: You say the game world is persistent but what happens when the player alters the world? Say by completing a quest. Is the quest remembered as being completed when you return?

WARNING: The above comment may contain sarcasm.

That's a good presentation. You need a vocoder for the final voice-over. Plus, you could do with a better res video.

@Pincho Paxton - Yeah, the original video was actually in full HD, but it has to be uploaded through KickStarter and they mangled it haha

@Green Gandalf - Thank you!

@OBese87 - Well, quite a bit of the game is procedural, and each part is handled differently, but definitely have a read of these articles:

http://swordofahkranox.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/how-kevin-bacon-helped-make-malevolence.html
And keep an eye on that blog, as new stuff is put up all the time that tells you the "how" behind the game

We reached our funding goal!

We now have 16 more days to raise as much more as possible!
