I have spent ages trying to word this properly, but, it's hard to describe without being on my own PC, so i can use screen shots to help.

But, here goes. (If you don't understand any of it, please ask)

* Open your texture in Gimp
* Create a new layer (right click in the properties window - New layer)
* Make sure the 'new layer' is above the original texture. Drag it up if it isn't.
* Then simply add your decals. (drag them in from the file location)
* If you want to edit the decals make sure you have selected the correct layer, then edit away.
*Once you have finished, Right click on the properties window and click merge all visible layers, follow the instructions that pop up.

Then save as whatever file type you require (I prefer .dds)

I hope this helps.

To get one image in over another:
1. Open both images as separate files
2. Copy the overlay by activating that image and pressing Ctrl+C
3. Go back to the main image
4. Ctrl+V to paste in the decal
5. Once you paste in, the decal will appear with a moving outline around it (meaning its still not part of the image). To remove this simply go into your layers pallete (Ctrl+L if not already open) and hit either the anchor button (if you dont want to move it) or the New Layer (white canvas) button if you want it to be its own layer.
6. Press M to activate the move tool (a very basic tool. If you dont know how to use this I recommend you skim the GIMP manual ) and move the decal to desired location

There is a simpler way of doing this which is simply by going to File>Open as layer and selecting the image you want. The above method is for when the overlay does not alreayd have transperancy.

Cheers,
Anayar
