Recently, my PC started to act wierd, right after the windows starting screen my screen would go black. I wouldn't get past the windows starting screen. I figured the problem was one of my 2 9800GX2's. The strange thing was, that it only showed those problems when the NVidia driver was installed. I've tried it alone in safe mode: boots fine. Alone normal: hangs on windows starting screen.
In SLI safe mode: boots fine, in SLI normal: Screen goes black after windows starting screen.

Does this mean certain features which only get enabled by the NVidia driver are the problem? Cause my other one is working perfectly.

I have had NVidia drivers go bad, almost like a virus inside them. I just delete the driver in add/remove programs, and put the driver back on again, and that fixes it.

It could be the first sing showing that your GPU is dying. It was a fairly common error in the Nvidia 8000 series and in the hotter 9000 series.

@pincho: The thing is, it works fine with another 9800GX2, so I don't think it's the drivers.

@charger: That's what I was fearing.. anyway, still got 1 card left. All that I can do now is start saving for a 600 series

Well, maybe I'll have a new baking project with this one you never know xD.

Even if it dies, it would be epic to mount onto a wall, this huge GPU, I always loved these long and big GPU's that just look so beasty. So I bought a Radeon 3870x2 and apparently it's dead, huge waste of money

I also have a GTX295 which is hanging on the wall, which also died ( and lived again after baking it and then died again ) and my very first GTS250.... guess I'm kinda stuck around the 200series era xD. But soon, it will change.... atleast, if I find a job soon to pay the GTX660 xD
