I thought the cow level was awesome, but this is too much for me. Just way too silly.

Diablo 2's "cow" level was better
But this one is just pretty friggin funny too! My brother was playing through it the other day, so it IS real.

I've heard rumours of such a beast but haven't seen it yet. How do you get to it? Is it after Act 2 (where both I and my wife are presently stuck)?

In Diablo 2? Oh man, its been awhile, let me think. You need to go to Tristrim, and get Wart's peg leg. And then you need some other item later on in the game, and you have to BEAT the game.... and then in the cube, you combine the leg with whatever the other thing is, and it opens up a red portal to Cow Land, where you take on the Cow King.

I was wondering what Wirt's leg was for. It was one of the quests in the original Diablo - I assumed it was included as a joke in D2 (which I guess it was ).

I've finally managed to get to Act 3 much to my wife's disgust.

wirts leg and a tomb of town portal. Throw it in your cube and transmute it to get the cow portal.

In D3, I'm in Act2 of Nightmare. Only thing slowing me down is the stupid lag I get from where I'm at. Far as I can tell, its the only reason I've died at all as the game so far (even nightmare) is rather easy.

Real money auction just went live yesterday I believe, and I think that'll hurt overall competitive gameplay like PvP.

Quite frankly, no... I dont see the difference with having real money AH and normal AH... other than the fact that it's silly and just a cheap way to make money.

All I need now is Wirt's leg - I threw it away when I picked it up weeks ago.

I might get to try D3 at some point.

Is it one of those games that requires Internet connection while playing? If so then I might be sending it back.

Yes, yes it does (you should really know that though - if you got a box it says so, it also says so before ordering digital copies, and the internet is full of complaints on it..)

Yea there is no single player mode really, as the same character you use to play by yourself is the same you'd use with a group in a game. And the game requires an internet connection to even start it. No connection you won't even be prompted for a login page, it'll just quit the game automatically.

I didn't buy it and I haven't looked at it yet.

Sadly we have a slow connection out here in the wilderness so we'll probably have Phaelax's problem. On the other hand it's taking us so long to wade through D2 that we'll probably have a fast connection speed by the time we're ready for D3 (I originally started years ago on my old machine and have only recently returned to the game).

It can be annoying, but even with a 2000ms lag time (according to the in-game meter) the game is possible. Higher than that and you'll likely get dropped or die before you know it. So if your lag time stays at 1sec or lower (likely for most of you) I doubt you'd run into too many problems.

Mine works great right now, but that's because everyone else is at school and only a handful of us are in the barracks.

So I just discovered something very annoying with the new D3. Try to login to battle net from a different location and it will automatically lock your account out. Thus having to go to the website and unlock. However, to do so you need to enter your email and first/last name. How many of you ever use your real name for a game site or any site really? I have absolutely no idea what name I gave them.

omfg im gonna shoot blizzard. This isn't password related, I know my password. But I can't login until I unlock it by providing my email address and full name, which I don't know what name I used. I called support, hold queue is full and cannot take my call, submit a ticket. But you have to login to submit a freaking ticket for login issues! What moron came up with that scheme?

I'm mostly with Phaelax here. For a game forum I would probably give the "full" name my friends know me by (except for the public forum name) - but for a bank or similar I would use my actual official name. But if the request for a name seemed to be associated with semi-official things like card payments etc then I might have used either.

On the other hand Phaelax, how many names are you likely to have used? Can't be many surely? In my case it would have to be one of two.

Anyway, thanks for the warning. I may be trying D3 soon since I have finally finished D2. Or rather I think I have - I expected a final Act 5 where I would have to go after Baal but the game finished soon after disposing of Diablo. Did I miss something after the Baal movie? Or is Act 5 in an expansion pack?

I finally got through the help desk, after nearly 2 hours waiting on the phone. (said it was an 9min wait time)

It's still a hassle to have to login to the website every time I use my laptop from a different location. Got my level 50 barb now!
