Hi everyone,

I thought the video below might appeal to some of the aspiring game designers on TGC. A “good” “friend” of mine has a dream, a dream of creating the next big MMORPG.
If this video tells us anything is that it's OK to dream and have huge aspirations... But you might not want to make a Youtube video about it immediately.

I remember this kid came round my house once. He said...

"You are a good game artist, my uncle made Summer Games, I can get you a job with him."

So I went round with this lad, and his uncle gave me a job. The kid says.. "So what do I get?" Then the kid explains that he wants half of my wages each week for getting me the job... and his uncle agrees. So I turn down the job... and get the same job years later.

But this is it... you either make games, or don't. Don't talk about games like talking about them is a job.

To give him some dignity, the idea isn't that bad... Still, it's very cliché in my eyes. Ever heard of "bad guy steals princess, you must rescue her"?

The guy obviously doesn't know what it takes to make a computer game, and has very little knowledge of computer games today it seems, so how can he claim he's making the "next big thing" if he doesn't have anything to compare it to?

And lol @ Pincho, it would be hilarious if the game actually did show up.

Ooch. And people are questioning the game me and Comet are working on, at least there's a good chance that baby's getting completed.

I can take that it's a very dry sense of humour. It pretty much mirrors the, 'ZOMG I wanna make teh best MMO' kind of posts that have become infamous on game making forums like this one. However, the ideas at the end are cheesy, fairly camp, really cliched to a degree that's fairly ridiculous, kind of like how The Rocky Horror Picture Show is cheesy, camp, cliched to a ridiculous degree and yet...it is one of the greatest things I have ever seen, it's a true master piece.


At first I was facepalming it and at the end was thinking, 'well actually, this would be a pretty fun game', but for all the wrong reasons, regardless of whether it's a parody.

I had suspicions, not because I recognized his face, but because I seem to recall seeing videos of him in the past with the same black and white effect used. Regardless, I don't think the person in the video was serious in the least. No sane person can cram so many stereotypes into a video game and not know what World of Warcraft is, hehe.

Of course I could be wrong on all fronts here. Either way, I thought it was hilarious!
