Hi guys,

me and my friends are trying to build a game. The only problem we have, is that we want to use white walls, with a red floor. So we thought, lets use the carpet of the given WWII pack, and white walls of other packs. Problem is, everytime I pick a wall of a segment piece, it usually overwrites my red carpet floor, and uses its segment floor instead. Any way to only use the wall?

One way would be to make a copy of the segment with the walls you want to use.

Then in the copy, replace the the model and texture file of the floor with the ones from the floor segment.

New PC Specifications : Intel Core i3 2.93Ghz. Windows Vista Ultimate. 4GB DDR3 RAM. ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT.

TGC Store Tag : Kasseyus (need to make a graphical sig one day)

Press w in the editor to paint in wall only mode, f to paint floor only and I believe it is m to return to full segment

Cheers,

I think that's what he's doing, but the one keeps overriding the other. The same happens to me. Unless you make custom segments, it's very difficult to mix and match walls and floors.

Very common issue here. If you've ever noticed, I often include seperate wall, and floor segments in my packs. That solves this problem when building levels, and mixing various floor, and wall pieces together.

You can use FPSC Segement Editor, to easily create seperate wall, and floor segemens. Or you can use a program like Firma (free) by DarkFoil, Signs (if you managed to get a copy before it was discontinued), or Magic FPS to create rooms with the textures you want to use.

Firma: Recomended!

Magic FPS: $15.00- but includes added features like custom segment pieces such as arches, and ramps, as well as the ability to create custom doors.

Just to add to Dale's post. We also have Firma available here (thanks to Darkfoil's permission) if you don't want to sift through the forum thread to find the application or updates.

i think the easiest way would be to edit the white-room-fps-file and exchange floor-path, but well... just for info on another way, i love my texteditor.^^
