The game looks nice, and the launcher looks nice, it's just that I could grow a third leg faster than it installs. And for how long was I unaware that the download button next to the "AK-74 Unleash the fury" thing was the install button. For very long I thought that you click that to download the gun (like as some additional content for the game or something). It's a bit distracting I'd say.

No problem. We created the launcher in C# using Visual studio.

We have a team of about 4 who worked on creating Desolation: Earth. Since we released the game I have sent them to work on our second project. We are always looking for new members to join our expanding team.

Almost anything is possible with c# I would recommend using it over Visual Basic any day. The biggest pain with an updater is making sure you have the correct files for the correct locations and making the installer. We simply compare one file on the server and one on the client.

LOL Hi there Metal Devil! Well thank you! I don't get why for some people the download is slow and others its fast. It seems for people out of the United States it’s very slow. I will continue to look into that. Point taken about the download button I will address that in a later patch. No extra content is available for download as that isn't this type of game. You have to unlock weapons with rank. I will probably be spicing the interface up some. If you have any questions or are confused we would love to have you apart of our little community at www.darkformentertainment.com/forum we have a Q&A thread there with some help and a bug report section. You can always email us at techsuuport@darkformentertainment.com if you can't get in touch using the support chat on Dark Energy. You can always make a new thread on the forum as well. Or you can just drop another message here XD

@all

We have some pretty cool new maps we are working on for Desolation: Earth. We will be having a meeting next weekend on what else we can add to Desolation: Earth that people will like. More information on that will be posted on our FaceBook http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Dark-Form-Entertainment/110273679023704 at a later date.

This game has been empty lately. We should host a gamenight.

Sadly, I can't host a server (for some reason no-one can join... and forwarding my ports doesn't help either) but I do think that we should play a game or two on a few of these maps they released. (Especially the new ones).

-December Development update-

Hi everyone!

It's been awhile since we have done a status update, and admittedly the updates on our site have stopped as well (Blame the holidays). I figured I would stop in and inform those who used to play and those who are thinking of playing.

As you may know FPSC Reloaded is coming out with a bunch of features we had wanted to develop, but since TGC is taking on that task we can dedicate more resources to the game. By no means is Desolation: Earth dead, we continue to work hard on this game.

We have been coming up with some cool ideas for prizes and such for our next Game Master Scrimmage, like posters and T-Shirts. We need to create an incentive for a event like that.

What do we plan to do after Reloaded is relased? Well firstly we want to fix a couple more issues with Desolation: Earth right now, then the game will get an overhaul. We will have to merge all of our custom network code to the new engine. Before we launch we plan to include a new survival type game mode. If that does not happen we do plan on getting in at-least Capture The Flag. We plan for more engine/network optimization. I will personally be working on fixing up the character selection screen with new media and a much better looking interface. Finally another major thing we want to do is dramatically increase the map size and add additional media to make the maps more lively. In order to even get what we have now we had to sacrifice a lot of stuff which only hurts the look and feel of the game. We have so many cool ideas for new large maps that we are planning out. I can promise you we won't be sitting on our butts while we wait for Reloaded, expect a patch here soon.

So far our Reloaded goals are:

Larger map sizes
Engine/network optimizations
New game mode
Dark Energy re-write
Updated interfaces
Much more!

Finally, some of you have been asking for a game-night and I think that is an awesome idea, I would love to have a game hosted this Friday around 8-9PM EST. This will help me write down the final issues we need to fix and get ready for the new engine. I will have to be more active with these updates but we all know how Christmas is. Let me know if you can make it! I'm going to upload Desolation: Earth to a site like media-fire for people who are having slow downloads. Well that's it for now and I will post anything else that I need to. Thanks guys!
