Well, I was messing around the other day and decided to rig a scope to my M249 SAW. This was a great looking idea, and then the animations in game started to mess up. The 3D zoom function didn't work anymore, and the walking and running was funny. Then I try it with the M4 again, still wants to mess up with the animations.

I tried putting Toasty's sleeves found here, and could not get it to work either. Errant, did you do this on purpose? It seems like you made a leech proof pack.

Any help on the matter would be nice. Note, the scope I was using belonged to the M40A3A1 that was on the GCS by ErrantAI, all the joints and animations removed. I KNOW that scope has 3D zoom support.

If anything, MP53's .x files should be more leech-accessible than previous packs.

That said, depending on shader, You may or may not run into z-sorting issues when adding optics if the sub-objects aren't linked in a certain way. You will also need to re-UV the scope and edit the gun texture to include the scope's texture if you intend to use with the default shader.

Regardless, make sure you're not exporting or importing at a different frames-per-second speed or otherwise doing anything to offset animation frames. Be aware you need to increase the simplezoom value for a stronger zoom factor. There is also an additional zoom animation set provided to help account for 3D scope.

Thanks Errant. I didn't have a shader issue, the textures showed up fine, so that was out of the picture. But the only issue was the animations, so I guess I'll go look back at what went wrong. Like the M4 for example, the running, walking, shooting, reload, and melee work fine. 3D aiming likes to screw up for some reason.
