I'm still very confused about what software would be used to make models that can work with limb animation and Enhanced Animations.


Also, is it possible to import an already made .x file and edit it in Blender or 3DS Max?

Yeah, Advanced animation works with already made animations. You don't have to use an external software for it. You can import .x files into Blender and 3DS Max for editing of animations and models. Advanced animation just interpolates limbs to another animation for smoother transitions between animations. No special tools are needed there.
