I stumbled across something I found pretty remarkable recently, and I couldn't help but share it with a community that I thought would appreciate it. It's a website aptly titled "The Nicest Place on the Internet" and I can't really argue with the naming. Here, see for yourself!

http://thenicestplaceontheinter.net/

Just a large collection of hugs from strangers across the internet of all different races, origins, ages, and sizes, all with the common objective to brighten someone's day with a simple gesture. I think it's brilliant, myself, and anybody can contribute to it, it seems!

So what's everyone's opinion of it at first glance? It's not often you find little gems like this, so I decided to start a thread rather than post it in the posting competition, only to be lost among the flood. I don't know how long the site's been around, either, so forgive me if it's old news, hehe.

I noticed that it's not completely randomized which clips you get, which is sort of a let down. But make of it what you will. I still think it's a nice "feel-good" environment regardless of repeat hugs, hehe.

Strangers being nice to each other? This must be stopped!
I hear hugging is banned in some US schools. That's really sad.

Hahaha, if any of you are waiting on an odd creature pleasuring itself in front of the camera or some such, you might be waiting for a while. I believe the submissions to the site are handled over YouTube. I believe it fetches a playlist from their channel or something, which would explain the videos being in the same order all the time.

Not to portray myself off as some sort of super-emotional-ninny-pants, but it did bring a tear to my eye after watching the hugs for about 10 minutes. *That music could make Chuck Norris cry!

I don't understand. Black screen, some buttons. Nothing happens. Some buttons offer me to record myself hugging something, including astronauts. What I am doing wrong?

ah, heh. i'll work on that, then! really, i think i meant that in a "if we're all happy, there wouldn't be anything to contrast against and happiness will become non-existant" kinda of way. it harkens back to my days of dungeons and dragons where "neutral" was a curious notion, to me.

My old English teacher got depressed, so she went for some free hugs at a train station.

04:49 is where my best mate got hugged. He's never heard the end of it!

we had a thing in our school - where we get to "be a company for a day" (basicly just selling a product for a day)

one of my frineds went with: selling hugs

he charged 2 sek /hug...

in the end of the day he "earned" -38 sek

conclution: he sold ONE hug, then got hungry.. xD

I don't hug anybody who doesn't want one. As for signs, I'd rather hold up one saying "free beer" rather than "free hugs", I don't feel you need to advertise the latter.

I'm guessing because it's intimacy. You can't show affection because you're kids/teenagers therefore it might be considered 'wrong' that you're a couple and such behaviour should be discourage because erm...you might do the naughty.

I am speculating of course, and yes, I would find that ridiculous, but I know that sometimes that's the kind of thinking that goes behind it. Of course, if something is forbidden, it just makes it more attractive to do.

I got my child at the age of 16, needless to say not intended - but I certanly don't regret it, and I am very happy to have my daughter - such a mistake doesn't mean the end of the world..

teenagers being teenagers is definitly not a bad thing >_>

Yeah, but some folk don't believe in sex before marriage or that teenagers should be doing it anyway, or at least before the age of consent, which is 16 here (which is fair enough). Though the sex before marriage this is just a personal belief and I think that's up to the individual. A hug or holding hands is completely innocent, but I know for some folk they see something leading onto other things or even create an environment where teenage relationships are encouraged. I think if my speculations have some sort of accuracy, then I don't think it'd make a difference, if anything it'd just add to the romance - I am sure most folk have read Romeo and Juliet. "Our love is forbidden by the day, but we shall sneak away when everybody doesn't suspect it."

But jeez, I was 6 when I had my first kiss and we used to hold hands in the playground and even hug, there was absolutely nothing sinister about it. Some might even think that it's cute or even sweet, but something obviously went wrong as I possess neither of those traits.

unless the school is of a specific belief, schools shouldnt give jack about beliefs...
If some parents believe that way - then that's their problem, not the schools problem.

So you're not allowed to show any intimacy whatsoever because it could lead to sex? Sorry but that's utter excrement. In Turkey grown men hug each other and walk holding hands, there's nothing sexual about it. Physical contact isn't sex! This is really disturbing to me and I can't help assuming Christianity is behind it. Capitalism also feeds off that sort of thing, if they can destroy your empathy you'll vote against socialism and fill the pockets of the wealthy.

Quote: "Yeah thats banned at my school along with holding hands. If you do you get 2 day suspension"

I wish people would stop making up arbitrary rules, there is absolutely no reason to ban hugs or hand-holding, it's pathetic. You should all join hands in the courtyard and protest. Do you want to be pushed around by people like that for the rest of your life?

Shh... you're pretty.

I'm not big on US law, obviously not being a US citizen, but could it also depend on state law rather than individual school policies?

Quote: "So you're not allowed to show any intimacy whatsoever because it could lead to sex? Sorry but that's utter excrement. "

Speculation on my part, but I have spoken to people with that kind of mentality and have heard of some people with a similar train of thought, hence I made the speculation, personally I can't think of another reason, but it's possible there's another reason, hence I'm stressing it's speculation.

Though I will note that talk of religion and politics is against the AUP, although I'm not a mod and cannot give you instructions, but I figure I'll be an annoying so and so and point it out. Though if you must vent, there is the forum I linked you too as they like religious and political discussion. (Haven't seen you on there for a lil' while)

At any rate: Schools are supposed to teach you how it is to work in a work enviroment - and I quite doubt they ban hugs there...

As a matter of fact, It's almost tradition here to hug the teachers once school is over - as we usually do have this friend relationship with our teachers

Lol. Well, looks like there's a gap in the market right there, I sure if you gather the women you could host such a site yourself. Still, I am sure there's plenty of sites where attractive ladies will suit your needs sir. I'd provide you a google search for you and pick out anything I think you might like, but I don't fancy getting banned.

I think I hugged some of my teachers. Certainly hugged a couple of my lecturers at University. It's not 'traditional', but they were cool people so they earned it.

Just because people aren't technically allowed to hug at school, doesn't mean the rule is that strictly enforced. You guys are acting like if someone got caught hugging it's guaranteed consequences every time instantly no questions asked. Maybe it is like that at some schools, I can't say for sure as I haven't been everywhere but I assure you it's not like that at every school that's banned hugging. I could be absolutely entirely 100% dead wrong and it could be a serious on campus 'crime' to these idiotic school staff... But I'm assuming it's not a big deal, at most of the schools at least.

My high school for instance made it against the rules to hug and hold hands yet it would have been impossible to walk to the hallway without seeing a couple kissing or making out, let alone two people hugging or holding hands. The teachers, principal, and just entire school staff in general, didn't care whatsoever and the only time I'd ever heard of people actually getting in trouble for showing some form of intimacy was when this couple actually got caught screwing in a bathroom... And that's obviously deserving of consequences, given not only were they both 15 (under the legal age) it was in a public bathroom.

I would say, that's just a rule in place so a teacher could punish a student he/she doesn't like but has nothing to technically punish said student for. lol. But seriously, I've always heard that the rule is there because it's "displaying intimacy that feeds sexual desires and the legal age is 18 (in California) and most high school students are under that age." I'm not saying that it's not stupid. It's hands down the dumbest rule I'd ever heard of and was actually seen as a joke to the students at my school... But I'm just saying that just because the rule is there, doesn't mean it's enforced necessarily.

I>Every single one of you
