Super excited about this! I think it's a great move by Valve. Maybe someday I can get my game on it

Man, I have a game that is really close to done that I plan to submit but I need player avatar graphics as I am using very copyrighted material. According to the site, they are not releasing until end of August so that gives me a little bit of time...

Hah, I was just about to come over and post this. You guys are always on the ball.

This is extremely awesome. I've been working on a Steam-quality game with a small team for some time, and we haven't been able to get through Steam's current system. This is probably the best thing that could have happened for us right now.

Totally agree. This is why I love Valve. They make such good decisions. Well most of the time anyway

I wonder how they will handle this though. Will there be some details your game has to pass first before you can even upload it? Or is it just this free upload....

I'm not too sure. I think a free upload, where you can upload whenever and whatever, may be risky and a super strain on servers.

I love this. I wonder if our pre-release games will be available to download through Steam itself, or will it be little more than a forum where people post links to their builds on their own servers? If I can put my pre-release game on Steam and update it every so often with the Steam updater, then this is very cool indeed!!

I think it's more of a glorified forum. More like a glorified digg... with the winners getting a spot.
