So the annual Steam summer sale is on and unusually, Jeku hasn't sweeped in yet to tell us all about it, so I was wondering if you guys picked up any good deals yet? I've had my eye on Driver: San Francisco and also Spec Ops but I've not bought anything yet - been a bit put off by people saying Spec Ops is dark to the point of not fun.

I got Left 4 Dead 2 for $5, Terraria for $2.50, Serious Sam 3: BFE for $2.50 with a 75% coupon from Raptr. I'd say not bad at all! Serious Sam isn't all that good though.

I've been playing Spec Ops and I have to say it's the most fun I've had with a military game in a long, long time. Sure it's dark but that doesn't take anything from the game.

Other than that I haven't really bought much at all in the sale. I can't fault the prices but it just seems like the things I want are not what is going on sale. And I'm not even tempted enough to impulse buy cheap games I MIGHT play.

Also I couldn't stop playing Driver: San Francisco when it came out. It was one of those games I played to the end without it coming out of the console. Great fun and for the $8.74 it is right now, a fantastic bargain.

The Steam sales are the worst. Here's what I've got so far:
Terraria - £1.5
Q.U.B.E. / soundtrack - £3.75
Trine 1 / 2 - £3.5
Arkham City / Harley Quinn DLC - £9.24
Crysis / Warhead / Wars / 2 - £10
Just Cause 2 - £3.25
Botanicula / Samorost 2 / Machinarium (w/ soundtrack) - £4.75

I've been planning on buying all of those games anyway, this just gave me an excuse to get them now. Only other thing I'm waiting to go on a higher sale is Indie Game: The Movie. I will be buying that whether or not it goes on sale more, though.

BLASPHEMY!
SS3 is a little boring at the beginning, admittedly, but it gets to be a lot of fun as you progress.

Taken it surprisingly easy this year and it seems i've bought a few things that I already own for the purpose of modding/multiplayer.

I've bought like $100 worth of stuff

What bothers me though is that even though the games are digital, some of the prices are like double the cost in Australia...

Oh yeah? Well, it's 12:43AM here, and I haven't turned Steam on in two months. i][/i]D

In all seriousness though, this bundle looks really good. I might have to pick up some games.

Cheers,
Aaron

I just finished the game, and my thought at the end was simply WOW.

It's been a long time since I was so gripped by anything, book, tv show or game. I had to play the game out to the end because I had to know what was going to happen. In my opinion it's simply brilliant.

It's when you finish games like this that you remember why you love gaming. Astounding, exhilarating, shocking, incredible.

I would recommend that you all play it. I would also say don't look up anything which will give any of the story away. I think you need to experience it without prior knowledge of the events to truly feel its impact. It's one of the few times where a game has impacted me on an emotional level.

I picked up a few games... Though I didn't really find anything spectacular about the sales this time.

Portal 2 has been by far the best deal for me so far and two minutes ago I purchased Splinter Cell Conviction which is an absolutely amazing game, the coop is astounding.

Steam can't even count how many hours I have put into killing floor. Lol. Absolutely amazing game and the new weapons they just put in the game are an absolute blast.

I just purchased Just Cause 2 when it went down 75% earlier. That game is like Grand Theft Auto on steroids.

Im thinking about buying fallout new vegas, since it's on the community choice thing. But I don't know if I should buy the ultimate edition or just the base game. Is the DLC worth the extra 5£?

Yes definitely. I wish they would give us some new creatures though, I'm getting bored of the same ones every time.

Yes and no... I like it as it is - when playing for the challange, it's nice having the same creatures. However, wished they wouldnt reuse the "season" ones :I

Yes but I would prefer they give us an option where we can use new creatures or not. It would be difficult for them to just add new creatures in without causing problems... I'm just ready for a new creature.

I've heard the NV DLC is pretty amazing so I'd definitely buy it if I was getting the game.

Shh... you're pretty.

Especially weapons they didn't make themselves, ie. the newest additions.

Quote: "I'm just ready for a new creature."

Well there's the Brute which is whitelisted (meaning you can level your perks while using it), and in the future TWI have said they might add it as an official specimen if certain changes are made.

If you don't worry too much about levelling perks you should try out the Shiver, or some of the other specimens floating around those forums (of course they won't be as good because I didn't have a hand in coding them, but what can you do ).

They were made by the community weren't they? I remember playing a mod with many of the weapons a while back. I could be wrong though.

The Brute is awesome I really hope they add it in officially one day, or a creature similar to him. And I worry too much about leveling perks lol. I have played with the Shiver though and quite enjoyed it. On rare occasions it's worth playing just for something new. But I mostly play for the perks so it's very rare.
