I see this game is on sale on Steam today. For those who don't know, Evochron Mercenaries is one of many games in the Star Wraith series, and all of them so far have been written in DarkBASIC or DarkBASIC Pro. I'm probably going to buy it just because I think it's awesome that someone's gone so far with DarkBASIC. I thought others around here would be interested in how successful the game has been.

Yup, Evochron is an awesome game - Yahtzee even recommended it in one of his videos. It's one of the very few space games that stick to the Elite and Frontier molds, lots of exploration and freedom.

Don't forget to buy Serious Sam: The Random Encounter off of Steam either, not a DBP creation, but it was made by one of our forum members.

However, Evochron is an awesome achievement and seems pretty damn cool, if I had the money to spare ATM, I'd probably nab it. Not that I'd mind paying full price when the sale ends, it all goes to supporting a DBP developer either way.

Bought it too, very excited to try it out!
What's the multiplayer like?

I only tried the multiplayer briefly, but the people I did talk to, were all very helpful - like they want people to understand the game and keep playing it. It does have a steep learning curve, you'll probably wish it had one of those old-school keyboard overlays, you'll wish that Razor or Logitech made a keyboard especially for it. But, once you get your controller setup, and a basic understanding of the keyboard controls, it's one fascinating game. All this talk makes me want to give it another go... maybe we should start an Apollo clan .
The actual multiplayer gameplay seems to be exactly the same as the single player - just seems to get on with it for more players, very slick.
