During my brief foray into tricking, or as I prefer to call it "screwing around at open gym night", I've figured out some cool moves to impress friends with. anyone else do this kind of stuff? any pointers? I've recently learned to land standing arabians, B-twists, and A-twists. here's a few older videos.

Me, failing a 13 foot jump
probably I should stop jumping from my right foot.

Me, doing a backflip 360 (full twisting backtuck) from a diving board
I wanted it to be a full twisting layout

Me, doing a standing backflip (Whipback to be exact) on a hardfloor.
It's such a terrible whipback that it looks like a really low backtuck

Me, failing a cork.
I can't even think of something clever. The mat didn't taste good.

Me, doing a double frontflip
it's off a trampoline, obviously.

Me, trying to land a backflip like a ninja (with the "tim tebow" knee down pose"
it doesn't work because I'm a wuss, and force my self to land feet first, afraid to injure my knee

You look familiar. I don't suppose you're in the Wisconsin area?

Not stalkerish at all.

But those are some pretty neat tricks! I'm 20 years old and I wish I had done stuff like that when I could've. If I tried now, I fear the muscles would hurt a LOT.

nope, I'm from florida, and I'm right around the same age-range as you, and I must say, since I've started doing this kinda stuff, I've only felt better! more confident, more strong, more nimble, more resilient especially.

Looks kinda cool. A friend I went to university with was interesting in tricking - I don't know all of the terms, so I couldn't tell you the types of flips he did off of the ground, but they were pretty neat. He used to combine it with a Chinese martial art (a few moves anyway), I think it was Wushu, but I don't actually remember.

You claim to be a fat guy doing this, but I think I'd have to be thinner to try this out. I was thin and fit enough when I joined this forum, but that's changed in the last 8 years.

Gymnastics and sports in general isn't my thing lol. If I tried doing this I would probably break my wrist and run back to mummy.

Pretty good work though.

I like the "Fat Kid Does..." titles, but maybe that's because I'm British and self-deprecation is almost demanded by law.

I don't have the balls to attempt a flip of any kind. I reckon I could pull it off but I can also see me snapping my neck. You are brave and pretty awesome.

Shh... you're pretty.

first off, I am literally overweight, so it's allowed. Second, I'm pretty sure more people look for "fat kid does" than anything else because it's funny.

I was more fit back when I did parkour, but in florida, parkour is pretty much useless because of the flat open empty nature of everywhere.

big flat open empty areas means you can consider running in a straight line to be pro-level freerunning in that area

truth i believe many of us can identify with. maybe there's some correlation? i'll research this theory online right after i fill another bowl full of ice cream...

@bugsy, definitely "A" for effort. i can't offer any pointers or insight, but i do appreciate the moment of amusement. thanks for sharing! (now i'm thinking of editing your sig animation a bit. hmmm...)

I blame the forums. It can't be a coincidence that it's happened to so many of us.

why? it's traced over a video of me
(well, I only did one handspring, and it was a single backflip, but close enough)

when you do edit it, let me see!

I used to be interested, but my joints just aren't well adapted for such a thing. And I'm not so confident throwing myself around where there's a chance I'll land on my head.

Odd, because just earlier today I was thinking about how the gravity during the backflip didn't seem quite right.

Cool videos by the way.

partially because of the fact that originally it was just one frontflip, partially because I had to keep it in 600x120 px, so I had to keep him low.

Why? The ground could just move.

I know, move it more, and you have the effect that he's going higher.

well actually, that's about proper height for a double backflip, and once the ground has left the screen, there's nothing to convey height, so it would just look like max-hangtime like in tony hawk.

man i love tony hawk games
