I received my new PC parts in the mail today and finally assembled it. I've got all the drivers installed that it came with, but I'm having some display issues.

The screen looks washed out, faded. For instance, I cannot tell a difference between read and unread posts on this forum because I cannot make out the color difference. Text is a headache to read. I'd take a pic, but I don't think it'd be much help.

I've used this same DVI cable and monitor before, even on other Win7 machines. And my image looks fine actually on my secondary monitor (sony tv).

Anyone run into this issue before? I've searched the net but all I see are generic responses about resolution settings and clear type font. None of which are the issue. Hopefully, windows update will offer something that fixes the issue.

Quite odd! Maybe something about the drivers that the monitor doesn't like? So odd...

I have no experience at all in this area but I'd say downgrade to a previous version of the drivers and see if that does anything...

It's gotta be the graphics card. I updated the graphics drivers from the original ones on the disc, and completed windows update. Still not fixed. I'm running the same windows version installed from the same disc that's on my old desktop and never had this issue. It's extremely annoying.

Odd... You said the other monitor worked... Is there a way to swap the monitors to see if it's the port? I know nothing about multi monitors however.

The "other" monitor is a 50" sony hdtv. So uhhh no it won't be going on my desk anytime soon.

do you have the brightness set too high on your monitor? Windows Media Center has a pretty decent though simple calibration utility thing.

It's the GPU, I had the same thing with mine.

The best way to fix it, is either to change the colour mode on your monitor (mine's at 9300k) or to change the settings in the NVIDIA control panel ("adjust desktop colour settings", "adjust video colour settings") and just play with the settings until you find something you like.

9300K had way too much of a blue tint, so I manually set all colors from 50 to 18. Brightness on the monitor is already as low as I can get it. I've never had to do any of this with all the other computers that's been connected to this monitor.

While the colors and brightness are more tolerable (but still not accurate), it still does nothing for the text. And if it is indeed the video card, it's getting shipped back.

Switching from using HDMI on my monitor to connecting with a VGA cable has fixed the issue, though I no longer have sound to my monitor speakers this way (no big deal).

The DVI-HDMI cable I have has always worked fine before, even with my prior EVGA card. And it works fine connected to the tv, so its not the cable. It's just something about DVI-HDMI to my specific monitor that seems to conflict.

Interestingly, on searching I found this. Might solve your issue and give you sound!

i had the same washed-out effect (where i couldn't tell new/old posts on the forum) when i got my current (pre-built) computer.

i ran the adobe gamma wizard (i know you use CS) and now have my system load the settings on start-up = non-issue.

Haven't gotten around to installing CS yet, might try that next.

Someone on EVGA's forum said he had a similar problem and had to force RGB output over HDMI. Worth a shot.

[href]Yes this is fairly common using an HDMI connection. I've had to modify the nvidia_disp.inf file to force RGB output[/href]
