I found this old funny video, who is best: Schwarzenegger vs Stallone (from different movies).
Many years ago such VS questions were very popular among teenagers. Like Terminator vs Robocop etc.

starts at 0:20

The Expendables 2 is upcoming epic movie with epic stars:

Sylvester Stallone
Jason Statham
Jet Li
Dolph Lundgren
Chuck Norris
Randy Couture
Jean-Claude Van Damme
Bruce Willis
Arnold Schwarzenegger

So if it was "who is best?" movie, whom do you want to choose?

P.S. I choose Bruce.

Best of them all would be...Steven Seagal. He'd kick their ass just by looking at them.
Besides that, my favorite actors are Jet Li, Jason Statham, Sylvester Stalone, Arnold Swarchenegger, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourcke, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Randy Couture, and uhm...have I forgotten someone...? Oh yeah, there's a woman in the team now, Nan Yu.
I'm definatly going to see the sequel. Won a free film ticket a few days ago. Whoooooooohooooooooooooooooooo!

I loved The Expendables. It was pretty freaking amazing. I have it on Blu-Ray. I'm DEFINITELY seeing the sequel. I'm sure Chuck Norris will make it 10 times better!

You probably meant to title your thread: Schwarzenegger vs Stallone and who's best of the best in Expendables 2 (aside from Chuck Norris, who is always best)?

I'll forgive you this time, but next time I might exercise my Vice Presidential powers of turning your computer into a toaster oven.

You've been warned.

Chuck Norris. (I was a fan of Walker Texas Ranger before I heard the "facts." I wasn't aware of who played Walker though, as I hadn't seen the show in some time.) Also, Chuck Norris is the only one out of all of them to have an eighth degree black belt. (I knew this beforehand, but I'm citing Wikipedia anyway.)
Quote: "Norris made history in 1990 when he was the first Westerner in the documented history of Tae Kwon Do to be given the rank of 8th Degree Black Belt Grand Master."

And apparently (on Wikipedia) it says there will be an Expendables 3, which Norris will also play in. Woo!

But, Chuck Norris aside, I think Bruce Willis is probably the most awesome. (I haven't seen many Schwarzenegger movies. Maybe him?)

Cheers,
Aaron

How is that possible to avoid? Terminator, Last Action Hero, Predator, Conan, Total Recall, Kindergarten Cop and Twins. Ok, maybe those last two are a stretch. Hmmm.... I have an idea.

Schwarzenegger vs. Stallone
Dutch(predator) - Rambo
Conan - Rocky
Mr Freeze - Judge Dredd
Terminator - Cobra? (i ran out of ideas)

I've seen Terminator, Jingle All the Way (lol), and Eraser. I have Total Recall somewhere, but haven't watched it.

I've seen him in another movie, but can't recall its name. Oh, and as the governor of the state I live in.

In real life? Definitely Jet Li.

In the movie world I'd have to go with Bruce Willis.

Mickey Rourcke, damn how did they miss him out, maybe he is busy making another cool movie... I only got aware of him in Iron Man 2 [okok shut up now]... I watched the first Exepndables movie in ehT ameniC <-- and it was soso really but the idea of having all these legends in a final horah! before they retire for good is simply fantastic, younger movie goers may not be so aquainted with them as we are but the same goes for classic retro computing...

and yeah Typos in bold!

[I coined that one]

oh and yeah, why no Jackie? [Possibly because he will wear his funny fake feet again and the rest of them will call him a cheat lol]

Bumping this just a little bit...
I just got out of seeing Expendables 2. Hands down the best action movie I've ever seen. I absolutely loved every second of it.

Chuck Norris was simply Chuck Norris to an even higher level of epic that he usually is.

The governator came back! That was pretty epic.

If you are a man... You will like this movie. If you don't like the movie, you are not a man. It is the ultimate man action movie ever. I enjoyed it a lot more than the first and I extremely loved the first.

Absolutely.... Loved.... This.... Movie

Words cannot describe my Greatness... But I'll give it a shot.

I am awesome....... Yeah, that works.

Can't wait to go see it, and I hate movie theaters! Some family of mine went to see it and they told me it was pretty awesome.

I really liked the first one, so I'm looking forward to this one.

The first time I saw Chuck Norris was in 1972 in Way of the Dragon, unfortunately for Chuck he was playing the bad guy opposite Bruce Lee who made him look stiff and wooden (who doesn't compared to Bruce even this far on in time?). Same with David Carradine who took on the role of Grasshopper in tv series Kung Fu (which was supposed to be Bruce Lee's role, his idea for the series was ripped off).
Today Jet Li I reckon would be the man to take 'em all down with real life skills not to mention age and grey matter deterioration (which may have been in short supply even at their peak for Arnie and Sly). Acting skills may be for a completely different thread.

When it comes to acting like a true martial arts expert without any real training background Tony Jaa wipes the floor with the lot of them.

Awesome! Its one of those threads.

For the record, Chuck Norris isn't as badass as you think he is. For example, observe this video:

He's a good fighter, but Bruce Lee kicks his butt.

On the other hand, consider Jack Bauer, who isn't even in this movie. Not even death could stop Jack Bauer, or the Chinese (unlike Chuck) or the law. Jack will never give in. He doesn't care if the odds are against him, he'll beat his way through and fight until the end. He deals with a serious lot of crap and still comes out fighting. Jack Bauer always wins in the end.

Old Chuck? He needs to get man lessons from Keifer Sutherland.

However, I've not actually watched The Expendables. But if the same actors appear in the second film, then exactly how expendable are they?

Seagal has no place in the Expendables, he's something like 300 lbs now, pretending to do a reality show where he's a cop, and aside from one or maybe two of his movies, everything else he's done has been B-list or worse.

I can understand thinking Jackie should be in it, but Jackie's never really had that "bad ass" attitude, he's always been the lovable funny guy that can fight 10 people with a ladder.

Anyways, just saw Expendables 2 last night, it was a lot better than the first. Norris is hilarious.

Ben, the entire point of the movie is the fact that it is cheesy. Its not a mystery, nobody is claiming the movie deserves some academy award for it's unique story. Its the same reason a bunch of other forum users are getting excited to see that new Disney movie where the guy jumps from game to game. If you've stuck by these actors for all of their action films over their entire career, then you're bound to enjoy watching them all together, if not just for the nostalgia and corny one-liners alone.

Quote: "I wonder, how many people would have liked it had there not been all these famous actors in it?"

The point of the movie is the actors. There's nothing wrong with that. It's an action movie. It has action. If you don't like action, don't watch it. If you like action, watch it. That's all there is to it.

Same thing with slasher movies and such. A lot of people don't like them because they're all "the same." (There are exceptions of course.) But, that's the point of slasher movies. There's a specific paradigm that's followed. It's fun to see the "same story" illustrated in different ways.

Same with action movies.

Is it just that you dislike this movie, or do you dislike all action movies? If it's the latter, your implied criticism holds no value because you don't enjoy the genre in general. If the former, I doubt you see the point of the genre. Or perhaps you do, but you're just trolling, lol!

Regardless, I'm interested in reading exactly why you don't like this movie.

Saw it today. Chuck Norris. Cameo. Killed dozens of bad guys with few bullets. Told a Chuck Fact™ about royal cobra. Epic success. Everything else doesn't matter.

P.s. there was a trailer before movie about new Arnold's movie. There was joke about terminator. In Expendables also were jokes about termintator and him aiming to be president. So there will be such jokes in every Arnold's movie? That's stupid.

I'm a California resident. Many of us (myself included) did not appreciate how he handled things. At one point, iirc, he refused to pass a bill unless he was offered a higher pension. I like him more as an actor than as a politician. As for the jokes, they can be funny if they're subtle and not overdone.

To be fair Keifer Sutherland (in 24) was pretty awesome. But, I preferred Chuck Norris in Walker, Texas Ranger.

People always bring up that chuck was beaten by bruce lee years ago... That was FORTY years ago, long before Chuck Norris became... CHUCK NORRIS!!! This was long before he realized his own urine gave him the power of invulnerability.

Quote: "I wonder, how many people would have liked it had there not been all these famous actors in it?"

You do realize that that's the ENTIRE POINT to the movie right? Apparently not. Regardless, it still would have been an amazing movie only there wouldn't have been the humor.

Well, I thought the first film was pretty average. I think people have some sort of equation in their head where the greatness of a film depends on the amount of famous actors in it, which is why a lot of people thought the first one would be amazingly awesome. It was mildly entertaining though, just that it's a shame they spent so much on the actors but didn't put much into the plot or script.

Quote: "the entire point of the movie is the fact that it is cheesy."

Now that I have seen it I wonder what they would do to make a third, they used up all the one liner references in one go here, you can only say "I'll be back" and get the laughs once, any more and its simply annoying.
Its a great action movie with a done to death plot, but that's ok, cos you don't expect a plot any more than you expect acting.

Jean-Claude Van Damme, turned down a role in number one due to it being 'insubstantial' so he must have skipped reading the screenplay for this one, though any interviews I have seen from him would have you think he was 'in charge' of production for this movie. Oh! has he had another facelift or is it the slathering's of make up he's wearing? Same with Arnie, still I think JCD did a not bad job as the villain.

I still cant figure when Carlos Ray Norris became famous for being a badass, maybe it was simply kids watching too much 'Walker, Texas Ranger' on TV where he got to beat up a bunch of guy's called Carlos on a weekly basis or whatever. I am all for the joke......but seriously...

The next ensemble movie is to be 'The Unwatchables 3' where Steven Seagal and another bunch of of old fossils who turned down this one because of 'tensions' with whomever will get the chance to throw out one liners, except all his movies are exactly the same so the movie is expected to be only ten minutes in length, it looks like becoming a fad which like any fad will fade away.....hopefully.

Oh! just one more thing, someone I know interviewed Steven Seagal a while back where he claimed to have been in the 'Special Forces' a quick check revealed the military had 'no recollection of these events' nor of a Steven Frederic Seagal.

Maybe he thought the Brits wont know any better or he was so deep undercover even Jason Bourne never heard of him.

Awesome! Its one of those threads.

Ben, what I mean to say is, if you're the kind of person that gets excited about a movie like this, then it doesn't bore you. If you're not, then of course its going to bore you. I didn't find either of the films boring at all, because I went in knowing it would be cheesy and full of one-liners. You think the first movie was boring because you don't seem to really care either way about the movie, whereas I would spend money on an exact clone of Mortal Kombat for Super Nintendo if they renamed it The Expendables and just swapped out the sprites with pictures of all of the cast. Sure, its not an original idea and sure, it would bore anyone that doesn't really care about the cast or the game, but to those that get excited about the idea, its not boring.

Coincidentally, Mortal Kombat was originally supposed to be entirely based around Jean Claude Van Damme but he asked for too much money so they went with a bunch of random characters. This is why the main character has the same initials as Jean Claude, "Johnny Cage". Random fact.
