I wanted to like the game, but it just ain't happening. The menus are annoying, but that's not a big issue. However, even on its easiest difficult setting I'm getting blown away by machine gunners with perfect aim. Now I'm a fairly decent FPS playing, but when I get killed by the first guy on the first level multiple times in a row on easy, there's an issue with gameplay.

The first DX built up from the beginning with a story and eased you into the game. This just hands you a machine gun and says go have fun.

Anyone else play it yet?

Played it on the hardest difficulty, was easy to be honest, been out quite a while now though.

If you're having difficulty on the easiest mode then I don't think you're in any way shape or form to say you're fairly decent at playing first person shooters. :p

For me, the entire game was a blast - It never felt like I had a challenge in it what-so-ever. Really disappointing. Then again these days the only game I feel like I'm challenged in is either QuakeWorld or puzzle games.

(Just gonna assume this is HR)
I have no clue what you are talking about, Phaelax...
It's not that hard at all - as a matter of fact, way too easy on normal.

I had some trouble with it at first, you take a lot of damage very quickly if you storm into the middle of fire from multiple enemies, but that's not a very smart way of playing the game xD It's about the more circuitous routes and careful planning more than simple run and gun

Previously #1 on UT stats would say otherwise

The game got a lot easier after I became augmented. The first part I didn't know was just an intro, and I only got past the 3 gunners after the 2nd one ran off and disappeared. But when the game actually started it became much easier. I'll kill most of them without firing a shot.

What Amazon didn't tell me when I bought it was it was on Steam. (but I only paid $7) I haven't had a good enough connection to play the game until I got home this month.

Try inputting the serial/key code into Steam and it might attach the game to your account.

Huh? It already is, that's not the point. I didn't want to have to install Steam and run that crap in the background just to play another game. I hate the whole concept of Steam.

You can synch it however and thus not requiring internet to run it.

I'd say playing this on normal is just about right, for me anyway. I play it on PS3 though, so I assume I'd be just as troubled with PC controls...which I personally don't get along with.
The only utterly horrible part of this game is the boss-fights, which I understand were outsourced to a different developer...which overall sucks because I played as a stealth-focused Jensen, and now I face massive augs without a hope to defeat them and move on!

P.S: I hate Steam too

I find that hard to believe as I found the game to be way too easy

Are you sure you didn't buy "Invisble War"? Human Revolution is actually extremely story and conversation driven. You fire a gun in the intro level and it really takes a longtime until you get to shoot again afterwards. In fact: you can play the entire game without killing any npc's (the bossbattles excluded).

It's Human Revolution.

Why would they have outsourced part of the development like that?

You know, maybe you're too young to remember, but it used to be cool to hate Steam. Steam sucked hard for a LONG time. It's pretty slick now, but it was rough at first. Also felt very pointless initially.

Supposedly just to speed-up the development. They figured it would turn out the same as if they personally did it, but after release the creative director or someone high-up said they regretted the move, since it just doesn't tailor to people's play style.

Consequently, I'm still stuck on the first boss-fight, since I have no ammo, no weapon skills and the game just generally gives you low health anyway...

How is this a bad thing...

And BMG, there are certain rooms in that bossfight that gives you weapons and ammo

It's a bad thing because the first boss can walk around as quickly as me, the cover is VERY thin and I have to run around collecting ammo whilst being shot at by someone who can kill me in 5 seconds...I'll get past it sometime, but it's just frustrating to have such an experience that feels unfair, rather than challenging.

my last "playthrough" (quit quite soon), which was on hard-stealth based, i did not have any problems with the boss, he's not really unfair.
And a nice tip - explosives.

Been playing this game over the past week and enjoying it except for the boss fights... I find myself learning the fights through trial and error and winning with cheap tricks. Really breaks the immersion for me. Think I'm around chapter 15 now. I seemed to have developed some sort of OCD that causes me to collect all the weapons and items and organize them into neat little piles only to never return to the area again T_T

When Steam came out I wanted nothing to do with it. I remember my housemate constantly swearing at it when HL2 came out. Now, I can't imagine life without it. I do however hate when I get a game on steam then still have to use UPlay or Origin or whatever.

I knew it would be a heavily story based game, so I played it on the hardest difficulty the first time through. It was pretty tough in some parts, but mostly not a problem.

I really liked the whole experience. It took me exactly 24 hours to beat it, and I played it in a weekend. So, for me, it was one coherent experience.

I liked the moral choice system, as in, there wasn't one.

@Phaelax You're a great coder, but apparently you aren't that great at realizing when you need to use stealth.
