ICNS ICON CREATOR

Download it

Description :

"ICNS Icon Creator" is a very simple app that help Mac developers during the icns file creation.
With this app you will rescue all the time you were losing to resize icons manually.
It creates automatically all the files needed to build a iconset in Mountain Lion and older OSx versions.
You just need to paint your 1024 x 1024 or 512 x 512 PNG and it will do the work for you in some seconds.
We suggest to start with a 1024 pixel image for better resolution but you can use also a 512.

Features :

- Preview windows
- Smooth resize
- Save final ICNS wherever you want

what an easy good project, and very use-full I hate creating my icons for the different devices. I would actually make this in dark gdk or dark basic though so you can also maybe paint them with the editor. It sounds like a good dark gdk project that can be easily done. Maybe you can have it automatically make screen shoots of the app also. With different sizes for all of the devices would be very use-full if it did that. I see that they already have something like this on itunes and most people charge 7 dollars for what you can do in gimp and paint shop pro.

I tried to install a few days ago, but it wasn't in the store.

It showed up today and I installed it.

I was a bit confused about the icon.icns file. I sorta assumed that separate images would be created for each size.

Is the .icns file format the correct one for submitting apps to the iOS and Mac App stores?

Otherwise, using your app was very easy.

Yes it do all auto and of course is the new format Apple require.
It create temporary files in the temporary folder of all 10 sizes of the icon.
It do this when you load, infact you can see it in the console lines.

After you loaded, you can save the final version of ICNS in the folder you need.
And it delete the temporary files automatically.

The preview is only to see the difference from smooth to non smooth (it must be pixel perfect).
I hope you enjoy it!

Where would I find the temporary directory that the temporary files are created? I don't see anything in /tmp.

Well the temp directory is sandboxed i think, ICNS Creator delete files after you save it.
So you can find files before you save it.
Try to search for a files with the names you see in the console.
Something wrong with the App?

The App works fine creating the icon.icns file.

But I want to see the individual images.

The console just says "Creating the <number>x<number> image...". It doesn't supply any file name to search for.

And searching for files starting with 32, 128, etc. results in nothing relevant.
