Hello all, this is my first major 3D model in, well, a long time. I am video recording myself 3D modeling a gunblade a friend of mine drew many years ago. I want tips on this model, and what I can do better. After watching it myself, I noticed I have an n-gon on the blade, I am aware of this. If there are any other tips, I'd greatly appreciate it. All C&C is welcome, even if you think it sucks.

I can't wait to see this model. I LOVE the gunblade.

As for the video software, you should probably check your compression settings on your current software. Render it with a lossless codec or something. The compression is probably the cause of the bad quality.

I know that it is the compression, it's Windows Movie Maker. I set it to max, as in, 20MB a second, and the only codec they allow.. The other one I have won't render above 720p..

@Pincho

Also, Squall in Final Fantasy VIII uses a gunblade, that is where this is inspired from.

Yeah, I noticed that they used the FFVII logo, and the gunblade is inaccurate to the game, but I just showed it as an example.. I am using 24 MB/s at 1080, the second video I hit share directly to youtube, the first one I compressed than uploaded, got the same quality. I have no idea why is is getting low quality like that. I don't really want to upload the 2 hours and 20 minutes of video online, that will give max quality, but the WMM is just losing quality...

You can choose Zune HD or direct for YouTube... What CPU have you got? If you like I can encode it for you using professional encoding... You can just upload the raw video to DropBox or my ftp server...

But I always find WMV the best format for quality... So something must be going wrong for you or youtube has notpocessed an HD version yet...

Youtube processed the HD version. I am using WLMM to speed up my video, and that is where it needs to encode it I believe, and I did direct to youtube, and a custom profile with max settings, both wielded the same results. I am about to do some test files to get try to maximize quality..

You might find the export to youtube settings hardly ever involve HD... I found this in other programs...

Hope you find a solution soon...
