As some of you know, I had torn my patellar ligament in my left knee three months ago playing competitive racquetball, and was scheduled for surgery. Well that surgery was yesterday. It's a four to six month recovery until I can go back to work and supposedly 12 months until I will have "forgotten I had surgery." The ligament was torn all the way through and instead of repairing it, the surgeon said an allograft cadaver replacement is the best option. So I have a fake ligament now... yay!

However, I'm in tremendous amounts of pain and it's impossible to get comfortable. I probably slept an hour last night. I have a massive RoboCop leg brace now basically that's driving me nuts after only one day. I have to wear this thing for about three weeks.

Has anyone else had this surgery or any other ligament replacement surgery? If so, how difficult was the Physical Therapy and when does it stop hurting lol?

Well, I haven't had that, but, uh, don't take opioids for the pain. Maybe play some challenging games to take your mind of the whole situation?

Get well soon!

I've had my kneecap scraped out a couple of times now, so nowhere near as grisly as ligment surgery, but I still know how nasty it can be.
For me, the worst thing is the few days after surgery - no support after a scrape-out, so it feels like your knee can just bend any old way it wants to.

One good thing about knee surgery though, your more likely to get the couch to yourself - lay up and play some games, hell, I'd love to have 6 months of intense couch gaming therapy.

Knee surgery is pretty amazing nowadays so hopefully it will be good as new. I've heard marijuana is good for chronic pain relief but of course that depends on whether it's legal where you live.

Shh... you're pretty.

Well that's simply just not an option lol.

Oh I had to. Lol. The crap they gave me at first wasn't even enough to get me even mildly be comfortable. They finally caved in yesterday though at least. The first night I didn't sleep more than an hour though because it was so bad. Tramadol is an absolutely worthless piece of crap of a pain killer.

It's legal medicinally here but it's not for me.

I am actually quite looking forward to this, but only to a small degree. My parents hate video games more than anything else in life and have basically never supported my nerd habit, but now they have no choice but to allow it!!! My disability pay is quite good and I will be upgrading my PC in the coming weeks and I will FINALLY be able to play games on my PC (although there's a 99% chance that the PC will explode because it's God's will that I do not have a PC capable of playing PC games lol.) The reason I say "small degree" though is because 90% of my life focuses on the gym. The gym is basically my life. It's my social life as well as the exercise. I will be back in the gym doing some light upper body in a couple weeks, but two weeks is horribly long without the gym to me. In four years, not one time have I gone more than 4 days straight without the gym, and only three times ever have I gone 4 days without the gym... So two weeks will feel like an eternity. Lol.

Everything is going well today so far. I'm much more mobile and not hurting as badly so that's good at least. I have Borderlands 1 to help me get through the boredom right now.

I had a stress fracture in my hip last year. Now anytime I get a little pain in the area I get paranoid about the injury reappearing, which could possibly get me discharged.
