Looks amazing as always, though the sun flare and glow seemed a bit overwhelming. Looking forward to seeming some actual gameplay

My computer overheated just from watching that trailer.

That looks AMAZING! The amount of detail on that thing is impossibru. I just hope that you wont need a supercomputer to run it.

Putting the fun back into Fungus since 1984.

Personally I liked the UE4 trailer more (especially the editor one) but the CryENGINE 3 was pretty cool. I didn't see very much innovation in it though, just a linear progression.

Cheers,
Aaron

I'm still not sure why so many games insist on pretending the player view is a camera instead of a set of eyes.

Lens flare. Eyes don't have that effect.

Aaron

I'm not the only one annoyed!

It annoys me that they add the unnecessary flares; it's only realistic in a game's cinematics. I mean, they do look cool and all, but that just doesn't happen in real life.

HDR happens in real life though.... I hate the sun and it happens to me when I step outside in the morning everyday!

I also don't like how in some shots you can see the actual dirty camera lens that follows you when you move... weird

Yup! I have no qualms with HDR unless it's maxxed out to eight-hundred and twelvety-billion. Like this.

All that aside though, I can't believe the detail on that toad...

Yeah, I agree there. Though, in the context of that particular game, don't the characters all have these glass helmets? Still, a lot of games do it where it doesn't make sense. I dislike the effect.

Aaron

@Aaron:
I was going to mention that. In Crysis, the character is more than likely wearing the nanosuit helmet with the glass eye covering.

Lens flare still won't make much sense, though, but the water and dirt on the screen would.

The graphics are very nice indeed, but... the cloth physics made it look like those cloths were either saturated with water or weighed 50 lbs.

As long as there's an option to disable it, I don't care. Same with the dirt effect (unless that's part of the gameplay).

The point of my post was to demonstrate how to do so. I intentionally made it not embed successfully so you can read how it's done.

Cheers,
Aaron

I find them very cool, except if like.. that photoshop - lensflare - u know, the real ugly ones >_<' but if it's like a.. "illuminating lens flare", not sure how to describe it, but it's more light based, then I do really enjoy them

You mean eye-adaptation effect, right?

HDR is when you perfectly see darkest AND lightest places at the same time.

It is called HDR in games because it's fancy word. Eye-adaptation sounds not so cool.

HDR is a technique used in photography, so I suspect in games, like in photography, it's used purely for the aesthetics - in photography it can have a glowing effect depending on how many stops you're using, so it's not just the range between dark and light. Obviously it's not something necessarily true to life - there might be some situations where you might see the effect, but at the end of the day, it's an aesthetics thing rather than realism (like in photography), like with all those nice Wallpapers that come packaged with Windows 7, it looks like all of them are done using HDR.
