Pretty excited about this! Revolution Software has just announced Broken Sword 5 officially and it's gonna be 2D again. They've created a kickstarter for it: LINK.

I personally loved both the original 2D Broken Sword games, but the 3D ones left me a bit cold. I reckon they've got the backgrounds spot on for this, but I'm not sure about the cel shaded characters - hoping they change them before release.

Anyone else here used to play these games?

I didn't actually get around to playing any of the 3D ones, I was a bit cautious about them. But BS 1 & 2? Loved them, heck I started playing BS2 again recently. I will look forward to this.

Yeah, the 3D ones aren't really that bad, they just don't really have any of the charm of the first 2.

never got the fourth game to work... but yeah 1 and 2 loved the atmosphere and voiceovers and gameplay... gonna check the kickstarter out now...

3 was a bit... dull really...

Anybody played Dreamfall?

or the Secret Files games? they were interesting...

EDIT

I doubt they will change that style, it looks finalised...

ITS 2D!!!!!!! SO BUYING IT!!!

Blobby 101 THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE INFORMING!

EDIT

Just started playing Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars - Directors Cut

32% through now, cannot wait to get onto BS II and then III... I guess I will have to buy BS IV on GOG.com but I am unsure I will ever get it playing... always had graphic issues with it... can someone confirm that they can play it fine on an i5 HD2000 on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate edition?

Backed since day 1. Loved the first two games. Never got around to play nr 3 and 4. Didn't even know about the 4th one until I saw this on Kickstarter. I installed the DC version of the first game last night and the art looked weird, at least in full screen mode. I also don't like the added face camera thing. Graphical adventures should not have those if you ask me. Barely played any so far, we'll see when I have the time.

Awesome. Yeah, There are some decent additions in the DC edition but it's not spectacular, Dave Gibbon's art is great in BASS (another revolution game if you don't know) but looks a bit out of place in BS.

I'd say give the 3D ones a chance. They both have decent stories, some good humour and characters. I'd rate the fourth one high than the 3rd, if only because they took out the horrible direct control system the 3rd one had xD
