FTL is so much fun and really inspiring for us hobby-developers. It was made by only two guys and shows that great games are about well-executed ideas, not fancy graphics or big budgets. Prepare to nerd out!

Games like this make me think about ditching my console. I just don't see the point in spending ten times as much for a game because it's pretty. Really what do console games have to offer over the stream of amazing indie games we've been seeing recently? Despite having bigger budgets, they're often less fun, poorly coded and barely even games! Seriously I think the mainstream games industry have forgotten what the word "game" means.

Shh... you're pretty.

with "(game)" in the title

The game is awesome, but I haven't played it much lately. Can't wait till I start unlocking more ships (only have the default one, and both layouts of the engie one)

bought it the day it was released, i would guess about 20-30 hours played, had it 58 hours on - but hardly played that much xD

LOVE it to bits, however I do recommend to everyone: DONT buy it from steam - 9€ there, on their own webbsite it goes for 9$ - cheaper, and you do get a steam code.

looking forward to mods x)

@Kevin
I'm always amazed by the music on C64 games. We had a BBC micro and it didn't sound anywhere near as good.

OBese87,

I think the music in Light Force was by Rob Hubbard. It felt like he did every second C64 game for a while.

Only messed with BBC (model b) when at high school. It was platform of choice given it's strong implementation of BASIC. Easily one of the best in that era.

One of my most vivid memories was when our computer science teacher fired up ELITE on the BBC. Was the first time we'd seen real time 3D on a home computer. Something I'll never forget.

There was something on the ZX Spectrum (the sample tape perhaps?) that had a few objects rotating about. Think there was a mug or a jug or somesuch. I was like totally bowled over. Of course Lawnmower man was just unbelievably incredible at the time. Have you seen it lately? Hmmm.

Cheers

Oh and I meant to say, didn't Fallout do something similar to this? But it looked better? Excellent stuff. Always wanted to do a "Trek" game years ago but never got round to it. Hmmm...

Cheers

Very good game but lack of sandbox or free roam mode IMO.

GOG has it as well.

There are two kinds of computer users. Those that use Macs and those that wish they did.

There is mods for that
http://ftlwiki.com/wiki/Mods

basicly what it does is removing the rebel-chase mechanic =P

I played through the tutorial. This game looks amazing! Thanks for the heads up. The amount of customization you can do is impressive. My kids are gonna flip when they take the time to discover this game (can't force em to play, right?).

Visit my blog http://www.canales.me. Also yes I changed my name. It was time for a change.

Jericho2Day has evolved? Bit sounds like a title and reminds me of Transformers when the new Prime changes their name.

Now I want to be bitObese... no ObesePrime... no Captain James T. Obese... no Han Solo.

Shh... you're pretty.
