Night City Model Pack

Greetings all! I have been working diligently throughout the months on a model pack that I hope fits into a quite a few genres. I call it Night City as it has an older feel to the models, and I had much influence from certain media that has buildings from the 1940s. I'm shooting for 100 assets in this pack but I may wind up going over.

What's in the pack? Buildings, Urban environment models such as garbage cans, streetlights, street-signs, a full street and sidewalk segment system. I have even included facades of some building faces and LOD versions of some of the buildings for background purposes.

What genre's will it be good for? I feel they would do well in any of the following types of games- Horror, Urban Vigilante, toss them outside of an Underwater City, Private Detective, Zombie Apocalypse, Steampunk, I can go on.

I'll post this pic for now but many more are to come. I hope this pack will be useful in many of your endeavors.

@Ross tra damus - Thanks! I'm thinking of including some clean versions of the buildings as well. Overkill or no?

Here is a closer look at the streets and sidewalk.

This stuff really is good and has a lot of atmosphere.

If I were you I wouldn't bother with 'clean' versions of the models because you have captured a 'look' here with the grungy textures and with the time it would take to do 'clean' versions you could be including 'extra' content to grungy style Theme, just my opinion.

Great stuff so far.

Excellent stuff D13, I agree with Ross you got it great as it is and it already covers so many genres it really doesn't need any texture variations.
I am sure TGC would be delighted to take on this pack.

@ BlackFox - Thanks and Indeed, you know it. If I'm not around allot it's always because I'm cooking up something.

@ Ross tra damus - You got something there; it indeed would take away from adding more goodies to the pack as it is. However after I release the pack I may create the clean textures as freebies for those who bought the pack the way Bond1 did with his original zombies, but till then I'll focus on more stuff.

@ Rolfy - Thanks!I certainly hope TGC will feel same. I haven't even contacted them yet. Kinda wanted to wait till I had a bit more done before I inquire. Right now I have 66/71 items done before I add more to the 'to make' list. I want this to really be worth it.

@ Maho76 - Thanks! and you know as big a fan of Lovecraft as I am, I neglected to even make the connection with Innsmouth. Shame on me.

BTW guys just wondering if it's apparent in the pics what's a building, what's a facade and what's an LOD. If it's too apparent I'll have to do some more work on it. Thanks for all your support.
here is a new pic.

Reminds me of that film - Dark City, a must watch film for this pack.

I like your pack so much I want to walk all around it, and by that, I mean, 'all around' It would be great to have pathways, bridges, causeways, balconies, fire escapes, and all round sky walking, I want to move around not just at ground floor level, but all over the map, streets in the air, not just the basement.

love the sidewalks. can enemies walk on them?
i think doing a clean version of textures is a good idea. weather you do them at release or later.
All the pieces fit well together. can;t really tell the difference.

keep up the good work!!!!

@ Soviet176 - Thanks, I hope they do as well. A few more building types to go and it wil be done.

@ lotgd - Not a problem; I'll keep'er on a steady course.

@ Cosmic Prophet - Thanks Bud, I've already been helped so much with some of the programs you suggested; They really take the pain pout of making allot of this.

@ fallen one _ Thanks and that's one of my favorite movies. I read the book before seeing the movie and was definitely not disappointed. I can definitely see the similarities. By the time I'm done you should be able to do all those things you wish. I've added a rooftop segment that should fit well over the buildings original rooftops to keep collision problems down. As for clean versions right now they will remain an afterthought till the pack is complete. It will probably only be the buildings though.

@ seppgirty - Thanks, and yes they have been fully tested with both stock AI characters as well as Dark AI characters. EAI has given me some insight on how to deal with Dark AI collision problems, so most buildings come as a special model as well as a modular one as a fix.

@ SuPeR_DuDe911 - Thanks Glad you like!

I'll post some more examples soon to show more of what I'm offering.

EDIT: This is the basic jist of what I'm doing with each building should it be warranted. From top left to right-
*Bank building with (modeled)sign
*Facade of Bank Building with (modeled)sign, for edge of map or cases where you don't need all 4 sides of a building
*Low Polly LOD model of Bank (textured) sign
Bottom left to right
*Building 3 no sign
*Facade of building 3 no sign, for edge of map or cases where you don't need all 4 sides of a building
*Low Polly LOD model of Building 3
*Bank sign if you wish to attach it to Building 3 (better for dark AI collision)

Unfortunately not, but I do intend on making some addon packs later with specialty buildings and their interiors in the form of segments that you would put together. Having these guys with full interiors would make it too high of a file size to use in the current state of FPSC...FPSC2....well, we will see what we can see when we can see it.

Lovecraftian.

Okay to use these assets in other tools than FPSCreator? They look amazing.

I have something I have worked on already that I could not find the right look for. I was trying to get this.

Torrey "Heltor" Roberts was a funny, generous guy who did interesting work with 3D modeling and made the FPSC forum a particularly nice place to visit. He will be missed.

@Nickydude- Thanks a bunch!

@Cleve Blakemore- You will have permission to use in other engines but willhave to convert them yourself.

@The Warrior Studio- thanks , and 2048x2048. You could probbably reduce the texturesize if you wish with not much loss to detail.

Love it. This is a TGC model pack for sure. If that's what you want to do. I will be in line purchasing it. It will be great for a quest in my game.

Very nice, is it just 'one' model or is it put together using various models?
The texture is perfect if it is just a single model.

@F l a t l a n d e r - Thanks! Indeed that is exactly what I want to do, I just want to make sure I have the majority of it done first before I contact Rick to see if they are interested.

@Corno_1 - Thanks for the compliments! 25 models to go and it will be available for sale.

@DarkJames - The door and frame are textures. I try to cut down on the polys where I can since there is so much detail already.

@Ross tra damus - Thanks! this is a building pack so the models are large buildings. I do plan on making a more segment oriented pack later as an add on possibly.

Thanks Ross! The advice is much appreciated. Most of what you described I am currently doing already but some of what you said I didn't think of. I am currently making a level with some of the assets with lighting for Rick to walk around in and see how the models perform in game. I will probbably make a larger level with all the assets in it when they are complete for the video. Once again Ross, thanks for the support.

Thanks lotgd. I don't think you have to worry about me stopping. I sent Rick a sample level with lighting.

Here are some shots of the level I sent him. They are from the same level I've been showing you guys here but much, better looking(IMO)in the correct lighting. The images are large so I apologize ahead of time.
EDIT: just in case there are worries about model detail cutting frame rate down- In this compiled level I'm averaging about 67 fps. 65 being the lowest and 70 being the highest. Enjoy.

The screen shots look great and have bags of atmosphere and I just love the detail you have put into this Pack.
Just one 'small' niggle though is that the 'street lamps' look maybe a tad too short in height but maybe this is because of the angle of the screen shots?

Nevertheless, superb stuff.

Greetings all I have gotten the word that this pack will be official with an extremely reasonable price. I'll be finishing up the last of the models soon and getting them ready for submission.

@Ross tra damus _ Thanks. I'll get some close up pics to show eye level of the lamp post; it probably was the angle of the picture skewing the height.

@BlackFox - Nah 'Munchkin Land' will be my next pack, lol. Glad you like BF. I'll be in contact soon. Actually,'Munchkin Land may not be too far from the truth for the next pack... at least proportion wise.
EDIT: Here are some shots of the eye height next to each light pole.

Congrats on the news and I wish you all the best of luck with the Pack.

BTW- Yes, it was just the 'skewed' angle of the screen shots and the lamps look great in the scenes.
