Ive had enough of aircraft for the moment, so I have decided to have a go at a landing craft. I have also decided to break away from my usual flow and start with the normal map for a change, most of the major lumps are now there and I am now on the more subtle stuff.

I like the detail. I think the grey should be Battelship grey which has more blue in it.
What modeling program do you use?

I will have a look at the grey colour, reference has been very hard to find for this project, its gonna get dirtied up a lot so the basic colour probably isnt that important but I will check.

I used Max for this project but have used Maya in the past. To be honest the geo is quite simple and I havnt used any technique that cant be used in any 3d package.

Since you put "US" on the side here is a good reference for color.
This ship is actually about 20 miles from home and I have visited it in
person. You may also find it a good reference for other projects.
A little history.
The USS Slater was named after a sailor who was killed at the start of WWII. His brother actually served on this ship during the war.
It is the only Destroyer Escort still afloat.

Interesting site, I have book marked it for future reference. Thanks

I have moved this on a little more, just need to add some scratches and highlights before hitting the specular.

That, my friend, looks really good! All you need now is a hardsurface reflection shader and it will look amazing!

Thanks Travis, I just whack my models into Marmoset this helps me avoid the temptation to keep fiddling and tweeking. Its possible to waste days on rendering. I`m going to have to call this one quits for now as I have a freelance job on with the possibilty of another in a few weeks time.

I have chucked it up on The3DStudio if anyone is interested.
