Hey guys, haven't really posted much in the last couple of months, but I just wanted to ask your opinion on this piece I am writing for my ethics assignment. So far this is just the verse and perhaps chorus parts of the lead guitar.

[soundcloud]jackdpett/ethics-riff-test[/soundcloud]

Its only about a minute long, and it got cut short by a screw up at the end.
Also, I was stupidly wearing the headset while recording so my breathing is heard a couple of times. :p

Any feedback would help.
And thanks in advance .

Very impressive, I did enjoy that, so far it's going very well.

Thank you very much. What would you recommend to improve it?

I think this would be great if you laid down a harmony on a lower string. What does this have to do with ethics though? Are you going to read something over the top of it?

Shh... you're pretty.

It's a good start, but it needs something. I think it's too simplistic to stand on its own for an entire minute. There's no change anywhere.

@obese
Ethics is a subject I have to do at school. It really should be named "study of Society through the eyes of a Christian", but they called it Ethics.

@Phaelax
It is going to have a second guitar and vocals to go with it.

@BlueKlayman
Ethics is actually a wider term that encompasses all of moral philosophy, not exclusively Christian moral philosophy. I guess we'll understand how this applies to your music when you add vocals. Is this for a music class or did you decide on your own that you wanted to use music?

Shh... you're pretty.

I think you misunderstood my last comment. What I was saying was that the way my school teaches Ethics is wrong because all they really teach is the Christian morals. I understand ethics relatively well.

This is not for a music class, it is for the Ethics Class presentation. It is about war and it's justifications.

Lyrics i am currently throwing around are these(not in any particular order):

We are here to make you ponder,
The justifications of war,
This topic may be sombre,
But it ain’t something we can ignore.

Now let’s think of the Vietnam War,
Most gruesome war there’s been,
You can’t imagine what they saw,
After all, they were only nineteen.

Can’t we think of casualties?
Those people in the streets?
Those boys they send out to the field?
To their maker whom they’ll meet.

War can never be justified,
In any time or place.
It causes too much suffering,
And pain that we must face.

The "only nineteen" line is an obvious reference to the Redgum song "Only Nineteen (A walk in the light green)", and I will actually play part of the song during that particular verse.
