As I've spent a tidy sum of money on the model packs (and I still have those 4000 store points), what's the best way to convert a .x model into a .obj model?

LithUnwrap does a good job on a static model, but I'm thinking ahead to animation.

Anybody made a good converter yet?

And, did this go anywhere?

EDIT: That converter in Lee's first post also seems to work really well as far as building and texturing the .obj file.

Hey Rich, I was the one who ended up winning that contest, the converter I made for it can be found here: http://files.thegamecreators.com/betafiles/FreeX2OBJInstaller.exe

Unfortunately, I don't believe .OBJs can store animations.

Yeah I don't think .OBJs do animations either.

So we're going to need a .x to .ago, if AppGameKit turns not to use .x

I created a script that can take just about any model and turn it into a primitive .ago file(before animation) in the 3D Exporters sticky. It's on one of the later pages, and I posted a correction to the script a post or two afterwards.

Hockeykid - grats on that, your converter is quite easy to use!

Dar13 - I saw that, but I haven't tried it yet.

No worries. As soon as 3D is like, fully supported (animations etc.) and 1.08 comes out officially, we're going to have plenty of converters. In fact, I might be interested in hacking up one too
