I think it is the best promotions ever.

Not everyone has that much time on their hands

Possibly, but New Zealand barely breaks the news here...

I think New Zealand owes it to Britain for all the attention they are getting, or am I wrong?

Thanks for posting this mr Handy

Lol, why? New Zealand is a small country that keeps up with the worlds technology and is beautiful (as you get a good look at in The Lord of the Rings etc.)
Not much really goes on here that WOULD break the news. Because nothing happens that is as tragic as other countries in the world, which is not a bad thing at all
Nothing against Britain, I was born there/used to live there after all, but these days we are a lot closer to the USA than to Britain.
(trade, governments etc.)

Unless of course, you have a reason for thinking that.

I enjoy food quite a lot.

To be fair, LotR was written by a Brit, so it's kind of our thing.

I still don't understand. It's a video/promotion made by Weta Workshop and Air New Zealand... what's your point?

Quote: "CoffeeGrunt"

Not really, Tokien died in 1973, good work, Lord of the Rings book got written in your country.

Without the book, the Movie would have never been made etc. etc. Yes, yes I give you that. But that's silly.

New Zealand get's its attention out of the movies because of the masterpieces that they are. And they are New Zealand films so... It's really the only really good film series NZ has made. Let us have some credit.

And it's not your thing, it's the worlds thing. Who cares where you are from, everyone can enjoy it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_of_the_rings

Nuff Said, it's ours

However, indeed it was filmed by NZ and the little boys over the pond, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lord_of_the_Rings_(film_series)

However the IP remains that of England

Agreed, I never gave much of a gibbense about origins etc, just my point was that the IP was not for them to exploit like that, but then we don't even own our own British Airways lol nor do we even own our own Capital Airports [London ones], Hobbiton village thingy is still here in the UK ^^

However I would love to go see the views for myself there in NZ, I just wish it was more developed and I might even move there one day... I do not know much about NZ, so please feel free to enlighten me in the area

It's pretty developed to be honest. Well I download at 20mb/s so I'm happy.

And hobbiton is in New Zealand haha... I've been there many times.
Most recently when I was there for the filming of the Hobbit.

Because I'm in it.

And they made my feet hairy.

haha, I guess I misinterpreted what they were saying on TV way back when LOTR was around, then again I barely spoke Danish at the time, so no wonder I got confused... oh well...

Hey Rampage, where abouts are you from? I recently spent a couple of months backpacking there - country of absolutely breathtaking beauty. Highlight was definitely the Fergburger in Queenstown!

I'm living in Auckland city with my girlfriend at the moment and we are both students at the University of Auckland, but my parents live in a neighbourhood by the beach in McClouds Bay (you probably don't know where that is haha, but it was my old home before I moved out)

Can't believe we have eaten from exactly the same burger joint. Queenstown is absolutely beautiful right? Don't know if you went up into the mountains or not for skiing/snowboarding but it is really a jaw dropping sight. I usually make the flight down to the bottom of the South Island for skiing trips yearly at Mt Hutt/Coronet Peak in Queenstown, my parents own an apartment that we rent out when we are not there, so I usually just stay there when going for skiing trips down there with a couple of lads

Looking forward to my next Fergburger next year, definitely.

I enjoy food quite a lot.

As we see, New Zealand is the best middle-earth on Earth. So it's attention is well deserved.

Haha amazing! They definitely weren't lying when they said the south was a lot colder than the north :p Unfortunately we were on a pretty tight budget and couldn't afford any skiing - but I can still remember going hiking on the glaciers at Franz Josef as a kid - only walked up to the foot of them this time round.

What's the off-piste like? xD
