Quote: " Introduction "

Are you kidding me?

Of course not! You know I don't joke about fun and games. Due to various circumstances I was unable to release a title this year, thats why I started working on this a few days ago to deliver at least something. I'm pretty sure the community would at least like to play something from my workbench after all the promises and plans I put into Catathrenia and all the titles I had to cancel/postpone throughout the years.

Yeah! "Various Circumstances"... the same "circumstances" that kept you from finding a new job and getting laid the last couple months? Also, the community doesn't care about any of your garbage.

This is a presentation thread, so please be professional. I must apologise I've actually sent an E-Mail to Josh Mooney to unlock my Shavra Thread a few days ago to present this there so I won't clutter the work in progress thread with this mini-game but then he saw the amazing masterpieces that spawned there lately. I swear to the great cthulu, if any of you even dare to develop another lackluster Zombiegame I'll circumsize your... will you 2 cutiepies cut it out!? You are wasting everyones time with your childish little fights. Look! If you are still reading this... we are making a game for you! Maybe it will get a little popular and help to raise funds for FPSC-Reloaded which is an orgasmic project by the handsome lads at TGC. Silly me! You already know that So, our little project is...

Quote: " Story and Setting "

another Mini Title in the Shavra Universe. Its structured a bit like one of my first releases here "The Escape from Reaper Harbour" and it plays a lot like "Deprivation: Direct Action". Jeez! Your old titles where cheesier than the storyline in an 80's exploitation porn flick. Figures! Shavra is a planet split in a raging war between.... you know what? The recap would completely blow this out of proportion so lets skip it! What a shame.

Story: All attempts of the Freedom-Faction to keep th New Shavran Order from launching a spiesattelite network has failed leading the NSO to discover strategically important cities in the planet parts controlled by the Faction. The mining-town "Noémie", known for its iron-mines and alternative energiesource tests has been assaulted by a full legion of the NSO. The battle lasted for 12 hourse leaving the city in complete destruction. Needless to say, the troops at Noémie did not withstand the legion. You, a young soldier of the Faction, have not managed to escape the city as the last troops have been evacuated.

With the battle long over, the city was filled with NSO Troopers, retrieving whatever intel they could find and killing remaining survivors. The young soldier, knowing that survival was impossible but not willing to give up without a fight, discovers a note on the corpse of a Special Ops member of the Faction. An objective so vital to the survival of the Faction that failure was simply not an option. A computerterminal in Noémie had informations on file about the location of New-Shangri-la the underground headquarters and the largest city of the freedom faction. With no change to get out alive, the young soldier makes his way to the terminal clinging to a lost spark of hope...hope that the NSO has not found it yet.
Let me clean this up for you! You are there, everything is screwed. You have to find the thing and shoot everything in between. ...and since you make this game there will be a completely unnecessary female character popping up down the road.

You should really work on your english. Its great for the internet but just not fit yet for story summarys, honey!.

Quote: "Features"

Remember Shavra-Dead Frequency? With all the custom guns, waypoint following scripted AI, Shader Intensive Environments and Allies? Well this isn't it!

With this game I totally reinvented the hammer because in this game you get to collect guns and shoot the bad guys!

To set this apart from all the other first person shooters out there, there is even a freaking Sewer Level! Made with love!

So lets pump out a feature list and get this over with! thats what she said...at least the last part

* Cool Weapon features, such as tactical reloading and visual feedback on some guns if they are shot empty. You can also use a specific ammo type on all weapons that use that ammo. (P.Ex: 9mm ammonition work on all 9mm weapons)

* Enemies react as smart as they did in Deprivation. Maybe a bit better here and there...thats okay, right?

* Cool health system with injections. It works a bit like in F.E.A.R.

* Gritty post war - scifi athmosphere

* Custom Soundtrack

* Okay graphics! I wanted to add some flowers but the 2 stooges said no

* Ultra fast development: release date before 25th november!

I never asked for this

I know...whatever you're asking for usually scars me for life!

Thehe! Thats because you don't have a sense of humour...why so serious?

They'll be busy arguing for hours. I'll show you the lovely screenshots in the meantime:

Even though we really push this to get it done in one week, we keep an eye for little details like water dripping out of this tank.

Storyline areas are rather vast while combat zones are more constrained.

Outdoor passages are mainly just there to mess with bugsy.

There is a pretty erotic lasershader in this game too

Even though we pretty much make all the levels in one go without much concept...they still tend to have their moments.

EAI's G36 overused?... yeah! Just like your... Woah! Just escaped a modslap there... now will you be quiet? I'll get some coffee I had it with my boring and my female side anyway

Well, will you look at that. Your audience took their life after reading through this painful thread.

I made these watereffects using bonds shaders. Special eyecandy for you my love. Its wet...on a totally unrelated note

Bloom in FPSC is still a blast!

Alright guys! I hope you survived my schizophrenic comedy episode and I certainly wish that you'll provide some feedback...questions...comments. This'll be released pretty soon as you might have red. This november...hence the title.

You know who I really missed in this conversation? Wolf!

Can I have some of whatever you are having! It seems like fun!

I have been eagerly awaiting another title from the infamous Wolf! Especially after the release of yours and Bugsy's awesome pack!

Everything looks great and up to the wolf standard.

Thanks a lot! I try to sacrifice only the least necessary elements and still develop a coherent game in this crazy short amount of time I'm glad it does hold up so far. Also glad that you liked our pack. If you care, Bugsy and I'll do a second one

Quote: "lmao you just made my week wolf. Thank you!"

Glad to be entertaining
Quote: " Thankfully your guy has a .50 cal degal which would take away some of the scariness of your games for me. I love the hand cannon."

While my games always feel a little bit rough and sinister, this one has almost no horror elements I promise!

Quote: "As always....superb!

Looks like someone uncovered our secret...

To be serious: I really hope I'm not biting off more than I can chew with this tight schedule. Above all, the game shouldn't fall apart on release. I'd provide more custom models if I had more time but I guess whats in is already pretty neat for a minigame.

Update:

No so much of an update but you can also follow me and all of my insanity on the twitters

Be advised that I'll tweet about my traditional artworks aswell which will contain nudity. If you are an alien or part of some strange cult where this is deemed offensive... you have been warned.

@Wolf! Excellent work man! I like how you place entities in order to deliberately cast shadows across scenes. Makes things a lot more appealing.

When you mentioned how AI reacts? Could you go into a bit more detail about how the AI reacts in different scenarios?

@Bugsy! Hahahaha! Dude, that sig is kick@55. What better place to test it than on a thread from Wolf?

Looks amazing Wolf! But just some questions: How many levels will there be? will you focus more on puzzles or combat or both? Do the game use lots of scripts?

Anyway, can't wait to try this!

Hey Wolf your game looks really good! Did you ever think of using it to promote the fpsc reloaded kickstarter? Maybe post the game somewhere and mention it in the credits or something...

You know, you either start a career with that talent or I'll visit the states and kick you. ... even though I doubt they let me through your airportsecurity. You could have tested that sig by making that "Cyberpunk Pack ²" pack thread though

@Landman:

Thanks a lot! Most is just coincidence though. I keep in mind to do it on purpose in more serious projects now though!

Quote: "When you mentioned how AI reacts? Could you go into a bit more detail about how the AI reacts in different scenarios?

In this game they shoot at you. Sometimes they open a door walk in a room and shoot at you. In very rare cases, they run away from you and shoot at you later. Either way, they dont do much in this game you havent seen in my other minigames. (Shavra:TEFRH and Deprivation: DA)

I'm pretty sure you where talking about my old AI concept from Shavra: Dead Frequency. I took FPSC's limitations to create strictly linear games only and constructed an AI system on paper around that. When I started to create it I had so many more ideas that sadly never got made. The AI would allow enemies to pursue waypoints and take cover for a certain time and than fall back to previous cover. I even wanted them to melee the player if he gets close. Enemies would have different behaviours like moving to cover and shooting from it. Shooting while moving or not. I even had some with scripts following waypoint rayls throughout the entire map. A lot of events with doors in specific locations should have been scripted too. As you can tell, you would require rather lengthy scripts and a lot of unique ones for single enemiess and it wouldnt work/wasnt as good as anticipated in some cases. Enemies would simply not react, the script and enemie load would overload the memorycap or butcher the performance. etc.
Too much ambition to describe it shortly. Also: Why do you ask? Didn't you move to unity?

@DA2020:
Quote: "Looks amazing Wolf! But just some questions: How many levels will there be? will you focus more on puzzles or combat or both? Do the game use lots of scripts? "

Thank you! There will be between 6 and 9 levels. 5 are done at this moment. This game focuses on getting done... if anything it has a lot of combat and few puzzles (mostly just triggers). I can't say it focuses on combat because it has very minimalistic enemies. The game does not use a lot of scripts compared to my other gameprojects.

Quote: "Hey Wolf your game looks really good! Did you ever think of using it to promote the fpsc reloaded kickstarter? Maybe post the game somewhere and mention it in the credits or something..."

Actually I figured to do that (I mentioned it in one of the Kickstarter related threads. So yes.

Well, its only on for a couple days

But now its time for a little update!

This shows a prototype of the minimalist HUD system. You'll have icons that display the amount of medikits you carry above your healhtsphere thingie. There will also be numerics below the Weapon HUD which I'm not happy with yet. Thats really it.

Of course! I will also have "bloody screen" shenanigans.

In the more wartorn areas, you'll have frequent firefights but also a lot of cover.

It took me a bit longer to make these bombed areas than the average level but I think it was worth it and the set fits well with the skybox.

These green fields are tactical energieshields the NSO uses to block paths and enhance their fixed positions. These will hurt you.

Some scenes look a bit grim

Thats it for now!

your style is just great, and you definitely know how to creat a authentic and atmospheric scenes
good job on that (like always)
but i wonder what tactical reloading is. Do you lose the bullets left in the magazine when you reload or what does it mean ?

its not a bug its a feature

@loler: Thanks a lot, Alter!
That just means that it plays a shorter reload animation if there is still a bullet chambered. If you completely fire your weapon dry, it plays an additional bolting animation. Its a nice extra on some of errants weapons that get rarely used.

I would really like to be able to set the guns so that you lose the bullets left in the magazine if you reload prematurely. I really like it when games do this

perhaps you could implement a "Bullet Gnome" character that follows you and picks up discarded rounds to serve as an explanation?

Just kidding. This is AMAZING, the environments look so cool and detailed. You are truly the master of FPSC level design. (Don't tell Bugsy )

Why? I have visited the forum drunk too a while back. ...but I'm a jolly drunk so its okay. On a related note: You don't get any demo.
You get a full version within the next 2 days or not at all.
It all depends wether or not it will build.

Edit: I attached a last screenshot. Next thing going on here will be the release.

No! Just me being typical. Deadlines are always more of "vague" suggestions to me

But to be completely honest: read through the comments here, people like this game more than I expected! I didn't get it over myself releasing it withou a neat interace, starter, adjustable settings and some sounddesign. I'll pump it out throughout next week!

LOL

I just thought "OK, these are the guys with the most impressive finished games. Wolfs look usually more stylish and artsy, Ertlovs games are usually more narrating and fun to play, perhaps they could make the perfect FPSC game together".

But obviously you would have some issues to sort out first

As this is not the first time I hear this BS, let me state once for all: I have no issues with Wolf!

I admire his artistic approach and I know he can compose scenes looking better than anything I did in my life (perhaps except for our adventure based on WME in 2009) and I can also admit that most of the time his gameplay also works out somehow.

He`s also one of the few persons I accept critizizing me and ranting about my work.

But a joint project would end in a scene like this:

Wolf: "Look, I have this beautiful cathedrale, with early 13th century wood inlays on the benches, perfect composed lightmapping with an early afternoon sun coming through the glass windows on your left. The player will admire the sence for minutes, if not hours!"

Ertlov: "Very impressive! But as soon the player enters the cathedrale, I want to have a giant flying Octopus break the wall on the left, shattering the glas, throwing the benches around and attacking the player!"

Wolf: "But.. but... that would totally screw up the lightmapping and the beauty of the scene! Shadows would be casted without a source! It would look broken!"

Ertlov: "I don`t care, let`s simply hope the player is too distracted by fighting the Octopus and moves forwared before he sees that."

Wolf: "NOOO! DIEEEEE!" (slits Ertlovs throat to end discussion)

Please make a joint game that contains fighting religious Octopus.

and the game will be called "the church of the flying spaghetti monster" because the octopus is made of noodles.

Does anybody have any of the older Shavra games that they can upload to a working website? Since the closing of megaupload occurred, a lot of projects were lost. I just wanted to see if anyone had a game, if it could be uploaded anywhere else. Thank you.

And also, looks great. Flying octopuses would be amazing to fight. lol.

Ertlov summed it up! Us working on a game would be like David Lynch and Uwe Boll making a movie together. Not that I would compare Ertlov to Uwe Boll, just to give you a metaphor for the disaster that would occur.

Believe it or not, but I completely forgot that I made this game. I shall correct this mistake over the weekend.

@Mini0013xx: I still have the first one, could you provide an E-Mail adress, then I could reupload and mail it to you.
