hi,

i've searched but can't find out how to make v1083 compile on xp sp3.
i get a msvcrt.dll error.
i have msvcrt.dll and dwmapi.dll in my system32 folder.

pity, 'cause the 3d looks really cool.

can anyone please point me in the right direction?

cheers,
miki.

v1083 Tier 2 does not compile in any Windows environment, not just XP.

They are (hopefully) working on this. Paul had his compiling and linking using VS2008, but it doesn't work for vs2010. Lee is going to look into the issue, he uses VS2010.

The current beta dont work at all on xp and they are working on the fallback for it.

Later versions will be able to fallback on working drivers so it work in xp.

I can only tell you that i loved xp and also love win 7.

Hated vista.

So install win 7 if you cant wait.

I had a real laugh a few months ago. I have all the original disks for the complete set of Myst. I found a USB 3.5 floppy reader and started with the original Myst. My Windows 7 Pro wouldn't acknowledge that it could be installed at all.

Then I put the installation CD for Riven in. It installed. So I ran it. And boy did the display get totally screwed up! I had to hard boot my PC (power switch) to get back to Windows and uninstall it.

Exile almost worked, sort of, kind of, but not really. At least I didn't have to reboot to uninstall it.

Uru, Revelations and End of Ages had worked just fine in Windows XP, but just wouldn't quite work with Windows 7.

By the time I finished testing I was laughing hysterically about how badly everything didn't work. Programmers do funny things for amusement.

Now, I'm finishing Uru as played on Steam Engine.

yo,
you guys are real hard-core!
i just dip my toe in once in a while.
i never have any original game ideas, normally i just watch my kids are playing and poach from there.

the best thing i ever created was a cad program that i still use for work purposes, thousands of lines. but it took me three years on and off. i never posted it on the forums.

once again, thanks again. w7 is in the middle of install.

stay cool!

cheers,
miki.
