This maybe short notice but Rim have All Aboard the BlackBerry 10 Port-A-Thon starting at 5pm (British time) today. For every game you submit for BlackBerry 10 you get $100, and the first 200 people who submit 5 or more get a Blackberry 10 Dev Alpha B phone.

Its a 36 hour event so all games/apps need to be submitted between 5pm today amd 5am sunday (British time)

You can see the details here http://devblog.blackberry.com/2012/12/all-aboard-blackberry-10-port-a-thon/?CPID=E10C020

Originally this was just for apps that were already on the PlayBook buts its been change to any new app as long as its not been ported to BlackBerry 10 before.

They had the same style event last month, and I was able to get $700, a BB10 Alpha Dev B Phone, and a new BlackBerry PlayBook.

What is the last AppGameKit version compatible with the playbooks? I would love to enter this!

Its only works with AppGameKit 1065. However if the final release of AppGameKit 108 allows you export to HTML5 Webgl then its possible using Rim Webworks tools to turn it into a native app for PlayBook and Blackberry 10.

Well, I believe that all my apps work in 1065 anyway... But I just have to find the documentation with guides for publishing to it

This is quite old, actually, and not compatible with v108. The 'File Updated' date cannot be trusted. On 19-Oct-2012, all of the AppGameKit downloads got their file date updated to 19-Oct-2012.

bjadams it doesn't matter if its not that easy to set up, as long as it works its better than what we have got right now. Setting up a AppGameKit 1065 PlayBook projects right now isn't easy the first time.

I use 1076 for both my android apps, never attempted Playbook as I don't have one, so no chance at all of getting them working on 1065 and working out how to compile for playbook before Sunday! Pity, cause $200 would really come in useful!

Luckily for me, I don't think I use any commands from 107 or 8 in my apps (hopefully) so I should be able to get some apps in there. And if im not able to get the compiling stuff working before sunday, perhaps some one would be realy generous and offer me some help *hint hit*

However I already have my apps on android, so perhaps waiting for this

Does anyone know what this "android runtime" thing is, does it allow raw android apps on a playbook without changing them? Because that would be realy awesome for me.

Also, does anyone have an installer for v1065 laying around?

Edit: I hate to ask, but after trying to compile my app for the playbooks for hours with no luck, im left with little choise. Basicaly im wondering if there is a friendly sould out there that has the BB things setup and has some time to spare would take that time to compile 3 apps for me. I would be forever in your debt. Im guessing that once you have done it once, compiling more apps is a prettu painless prcedure.

humm.... i have bb sdk setup on my pc....but im guessing its too late for this contest...

However... i can help ya setit up if ya like.... but you will need the original agk release with no updates.

i may just make a video to show how its done.... depending on how many people are interested in knowing how. I was self tought and it took me 3 weeks to figure out....dont want others to get as bummed out as i did. At least i never gave up and finaly got it working solid.

Actualy...would it just be easier for me to send you an updated bbsdk agk player already fixed with the correct paths.

Dunno if we are alowed to distribute those ? tgc? As it was downloaded in my purchased section.

Anybody know? and yes just the playbook player....not agk itself

Quote: "Im guessing that once you have done it once, compiling more apps is a prettu painless prcedure. "

Very much soo...

I just copy my agk player to a new project name....and start dumping in my assets. Then fill out the descriptor and sign the app with my bb-keys. Takes no time at all....

A video would be awesome, but I dont know how useful it would be as you are saying that an old AppGameKit version is needed. And its a bit late for this competition. However, it seems RIM are not afraid of giving free stuff to developers. If you are allowed to send me the player, i'll gladly accept it Im sure I could dig up an old version from my own computer. Thanks for the offer.

oh? interesting......

Let me do this....i will make a video on setting it up
just incase im not suppose to distribute the player....

But it is actualy super easy to do.

Watch for it in the blackberry forum. I may start recording it tonight.

edit: just 1 problem.... they cut 1065 agk installer ??

i guess if you dont have 1065 the playbook has no support....
Thank god i never upgraded....or at least downgraded when i had the chance...

I'm confused
If this comes around again, are we able to submit T1 PB apps and get rewarded?

Only if you can create it in AppGameKit version 1065. So, for now at least, you cannot do 3D and some of the fixes and other commands introduced in v107 (I think there are some) would not be available.

Yes T1 PB apps made using AppGameKit version 1065 will get you rewards. All 10 of my game that I submitted were T1 and they all got approved. AppGameKit T1 games run just as well as they do on the PlayBook. I have been testing my games using my BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha B device that I got from the 1st Port-A-Thon.

There is another one called the Community Port-A-Thon staring on January the 11th. This is just like the other ones, so as long as the game hasn't been ported to BlackBerry 10 before it should be eligible.

Details about the next one.

so many windows 8 phone and bb10 contests these days.

if we get an updated version of agk for bb, more agk users can try to make good use of these offers!

how do you interpret that? do you need to port at least 5 or 6 to fall into this category?

I have been trying to install agk 1065, but I can't make it work. I can only repair/modify/delete it, but whatever I do, I always get an error saying it can't do something with agk 1073. I have no idea what the problem

Its means the first 200 people who submit 5 to 10 apps get a BlackBerry Dev Alpha Device plus $100 per app.
