Hi.

I'm currently working on a side scrolling RPG called "Asgaard", which is the name of the house of the Ases gods in the nordic mythology.

Asgaard will allow the main character, a warrior, to walk through woods and dungeons, fighting differents kinds of monsters.

The scene is made with 256 x 324 pixels tiles composing background, foreground, player path and ground.

A numeric based array is used to build the view where the player walk.

Despite the fact it is a East-West side scroller, I added the possibility to go North and south when pathes exists so the player can evoluate from a map to another in 4 directions.

Looks nice
The player seams a bit to blurred?
But do you have some kind of gameplay video?
Can you move around some more then only in one straght line?
And if you add some kind of on screen map so would the user still get a feeling of an 3d world.

Because you seam to still use an grid based map for yout world.

This looks really nice! Love what you are doing here.

A critique: the trees in the back look 'cartoony' whereas the plants in the foreground look 'realistic'

This makes it look unbalanced perhaps adjust one or the other to match the realism level of the other? I would suggest making the background trees a little more realistic because the player and foreground plants all look a bit more realistic than the back ground trees!

keep up the good work!

Thanks!

Yes the trees are not coming from the same graphic packages that the foreground vegetation.

I've a realistic trees package. I will use it instead of those cartoon-looking trees.

I'm also working on the dungeon rooms representation.
