I just got a Visual Land Internet Tablet 7 to test my AppGameKit stuff on Android.
It has Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but the AppGameKit Player for Android doesn't work.
I installed the AppGameKit Player, and I get the following message when I run it...

LAST ERROR
Failed to create broadcast packet
address: 0

Is there a fix for this, or am I doing something wrong???

Thanks in advance for any help.

Where did you get the Player from? The Google one is no good anymore.

What version of AppGameKit are you using?

I got the player from the My Products section of my account. (that should be the latest one, right?)

The version of AppGameKit really shouldn't matter at this point, since I am just trying to get the player in stand by.
The player should work and go in standby mode where it looks for a signal regardless of any signal being broadcast shouldn't it?
They are both version 108. (beta 6 for player and beta 7 for AGK)

I know the 'more info' says...

AGK Player (Android) (108 beta6) - This is the AppGameKit Player for Android compatible with 108 beta 6

but ... there is no download there in my products for beta 6 of the AppGameKit, just beta 8 now.
How can I get beta 6, because I missed it and I only have beta 7????

Shouldn't they leave a link to that beta version (6) if it is the only one that works with the player????

It is important that the Player and AppGameKit version are the same. Using an older Player with a newer AppGameKit usually won't work.

While working in Beta mode, TGC doesn't always put up new Players. And, in theory, we all have the capability to create our own.

Once I am done with some (paying) work for a client, I will see if I can get a working v1088 Player and post it on the page I put working Players on.

Someone beat me to it. This post has a v1088 Player attached (I don't know if it works, but I assume it does).

No go.
I just tried v1088 and his v1088 player and get the same result.

Again, shouldn't the player be running in standby mode, even if there is no AppGameKit broadcast???

The players have always worked before, once I was able to get them installed.
I think this problem is specific to the hardware. (or the ice cream sandwich)
Maybe there is someone else here using a Visual Land internet tablet 7 that can confirm this issue.

I have no way of making my own player. (I wouldn't know where to begin)
I am not very C++ knowledgable, so the tier 2 stuff is beyond me at this point.
I love using the BASIC stuff that TGC offers, so tier 1 is the route for me.

Thanks Ancient Lady for trying to help.
Seems like a lot of trouble just to test the games, so I am not looking forward to the umpteen steps required to build the APK.
Maybe I should just partner with someone who can turn my AppGameKit games into ANDROID APK files. (hint hint hint
Then I could focus on making the games and not have the headache side of this, which seems to be easy for everyone else and just a headache for me.

If you don't plan to publish in Android, then why bother with the Player?

If you do plan to publish in Android, you will need to build the apk in the end and that usually requires setting up the environment.

Tier 2 is not needed for creating a Player.

Do you have another Android device to test on? That way you might be able to figure out if it is the Visual Land tablet that is the issue.
