I then saw your location was UK.
And then I noticed you had said it was in Chicago. And I felt special for knowing exactly where that was.

That is all."

Haha, well spotted - is it a chain or something?

Fortunately I've been shooting with my film camera for a couple of years, to the point where I can pretty much guess the settings correctly for any given situation. I shoot with a 50mm prime as well, so I know exactly what will be in the frame at any time. Just need to get my confidence up! For me there's just something magical about pulling your rolls of film out of the developer tank, never knowing which photos you are going to get out. Film gives a really lovely grain too, which just can't be replicated on digital without post-processing. Each to their own though!

Here are a couple of nice pictures from a guy named Rui Palha.

Today I did some more street photography a long with landscape. It's to many to post each picture though.

This link is my profile and it has all me pictures of today and before! I know clicking on external links sucks but bear with me here please! (You don't need an account so don't worry)

Yep. It's probably on its way to overtaking Subway. Generally speaking, there's always one or two within thirty minutes of your current position.

Cheesehead for life.

You should really explore some more macro photography, what you've got so far is really neat. There was actually a video on Vimeo I saw a while back about this company which produces advertisements - they have some insane sequences and use all custom gear to get all the camera angles etc. - if I can find it I'll be sure to link you because their stuff is amazing.

It looks like you've used HDR on the two outdoor shots (forest and rocks) - IMO I don't think the picture benefits from it as there's nothing which would benefit from the higher dynamic range. Just my opinion though.

I like the last shot too - try playing around with lighting - this one would look really nice if it was taken in the morning with the sun concealed by the dog. Experiment with some bokeh

Anywho, take it for what it's worth - you are better than I, so just keep on going!

Thanks for the feedback! I was acutally planning to purchase either macro filters or extension tubes. I'm not quite ready to go purchase an extremely expensive macro lens. I more just want to try out macro and see if I like it.

Macro is great, imo, and it's pretty easy to compose too; here's an example of mine taken with an iPhone:

That's really pretty. The colors are great and vivid. I am almost completely against the entire Iphone except its camera. It has one of the better mobile cameras in my opinion. At least they did one thing right... (Not trying to start phone type fight here)

a few years ago, a co-worker meant to get into photography. he was going to put a book together with photos alongside poetry that he wrote.

we started looking into some of the legal aspects of public shots and i seem to remember issues re: snapping people in public, and especially kids. ie, "not without permission".

when i see seemingly random pics of kids (and adults, for that matter), i know they're meant to be art and not intended to be intrusive but i do wonder if folks consider this?

there's a general notion of "if you're in public, it's fair game" but i don't think it's quite that simple.

thoughts/insight, here?

meanwhile, some cool pics. thanks for sharing

In my opinion as long as your not using there photos to sell things or in any commercial way then its fine. I also usually give them eye contact so they know and see that I am taking a picture of them. Where do you live that has these laws?

A little bump... Some new photos. I had to take a break for a while because of school.
