Developer: Wolf and Bugsy

Storyline: When a minor terrorist group in a densely populated city where all movement is monitored and recorded rises to major powerand stirs up a civil war, a battlehardened commanding officer of the local law enforcment agency begins to doubt his actions and motivations. As someone in high command of the resistance shows to be someone dear to him from his past, he falls into cognitive dissonance and begins a metaphysical journey uncovering the ghosts of his own past and a deep conspiracy rooted in the foundation of the system around him.

Description: Possibly the magnum opus of the both of us, comes the setpiece-laden "Kshatriya". Not just a game, rather, a universe spanning multiple time periods and settings, Kshatriya is a cyberpunk noire FPS which takes place in the megacity sprawling across, above, and under the far east of the asian continent, from india to japan, and all land and see in between. The game is mainly a shooter with elements of platforming, puzzles, and stealth.

Goods:
Very impressive use of the media!
Light mapping in screens are very atractive!
Very good use of Effects!
Map Layout Seems very far from plain. Very Exciting feeling to the lay out.

Bads:
I see no game plot in the screens, just lifeless maps.
(the effects bring the scence to life such as the bloom and other shaders. But there seems to be a lifeless feeling to the maps. As if you are the only one there.)

Over all until Demo played: 9/10 stars.

I will play a demo when its out. I will re-rate it then.
Very Nice work guys!

Stellar level design between the both of you, great job! Definitely looking forward to seeing more.

I'd also like to point out that hardly anybody comments on the story aspects of these games anymore! Is there any more you could tell us in terms of the narrative? It sounds interesting.

Time for an update from my part.

Thanks to all of you for your feedback! We really appreciate it. I'll now go into your questions:
@born for game
Quote: "A very good game. I think a special weapon will make it better."

Yeah I guess it was our first "argument" while making this game that he posted these scenes with that awful MP5 rig. We will not use it. It mainly serves as a placeholder for a model I made but haven't managed to rig yet.

We will not only have our own designs but also cyberpunk mods for weapons made by EAI. Lets face it: He is still a lot better than I am.

Like this automatic pistol.

This SCAR Assault Rifle

Another Look at it

And here is another selfmade gun. Compact AR

@PAIN:
Quote: "Very good use of Effects!"

Thanks!! We have developed a couple of (still experimental) effects that have not been used in FPSC before. We'll show some of these once we have a scene with it.
Other than that: Shaders will be used very sparingly. I have a love-hate relationship with the memorycap and Bugsy has a framerate fetish.
Quote: "
Map Layout Seems very far from plain. Very Exciting feeling to the lay out."

I try to get away from shoebox fpsc design as much as possible here. I work a lot having setpieces out of action movies and real indoor locations in mind. Bugsy makes most outdoor scenes in his signature creative way.

Quote: "I see no game plot in the screens, just lifeless maps.
(the effects bring the scence to life such as the bloom and other shaders. But there seems to be a lifeless feeling to the maps. As if you are the only one there"

I am aware of that which is why I made some placeholder gameplay screenshot to liven up the thread but we decided only to post gameplay that is ready or almost ready. We decided to post scenes only. The screenshots featuring that MP5 Rig from hell might distract from that as it implies gameplay (and very FPSC'ish stuff at that). Just imagine its not there.

One of the main reasons for why its so empty is that Bugsy animates the characters we use to do special things (breaching windows, using cover etc.) He has developed a very complex and yet wonderfully simple system to have great setpiece moments in FPSC and I am modeling most models to be custom or retexture, remodel them.

This is a prototype which will not be used in the game : Mechanic girl (people who know me probably expected my first character model to be a lot more pornographic. Ha!! Its not. My third character model is.)

This is a prototype of the protagonist. I used some armor of stock X10 models for him. None of these will show up in my 3D threads where my assets are also fro sale of course. CLICK ME CAREFULLY
He is still rough around the edges...and everywhere else too.

@doopus

I intend to make it rather story driven. The reason why there is so little information on the story is because I wrote it and I haven't managed to compile a coherent story document in the english language. Concidering Bugsys abilitys in terms of animating we might have cutscenes and will have dialogue sequences. The story I wrote is deep.-> How much we can convey in the game itself is a whole different slice of cake. Look at my prior games: Euthanasia started as a metaphysical journey of a man who did not see the beauty of life in the depth of his perversion where he should find piece at the end... and it ended as an idiotic and thorouhly negative shoot the monster game.
I actually concidered stopping gamecreation due to all this dumbing down. Lets end this rant with the fact that I will soon post my final personal WIP. If this one fails I'll keep helping Bugsy with this and then retire. I still have high hopes that it wont fail though.

The story of this game is about saving the essence of humanity. I really hope that it wont end up being a game only about machinegunning people to death

A word on cyberpunk 2077 and this game:

We know that we post this right after the trailer release of cyberpunk 2077. This game is not inspired or even loosely based on this or any of the prior roleplaying games to it. I love CDP-red and everything they do...especially the Witcher games. 'just felt the need to point that out

Also: We know that this game seems like a huge undertaking...because...it is. It grew a little which is why we split it into chapters. We dont know how much we'll really deliver on. I know its a secret developer rule not to highlight internal conflicts like this, but we are no professional developers and I'm an extrovert so: Its FPSC...it will be a FPSC game. A dang good one but its likely that we have to kill a lot of our babys to make this thing work.

And its not a Wolf FPS Post without some Muzzleflash:

You know I sit here and say "Welp, wolf and Bugsy are at it again..."

But honestly, this does not even phase me... why? Good question, I feel as though, a poor wolf and a Bug is trapped in a small bottle. All the creativity and expression is trapped behind the glass walls of limitations and problems.

What I am really waiting for, no-no what I loath for is when the next saga of this engine is released, which we hope will get rid of this memory cap and other hindering factors allowing the art-thirsty wolf and the bug to break free creating a truly unbelievable jaw-dropping FPS game.

Also if Bugsy were a bug, what kind of bug would he be? I just have to beat on him because there is something about a wolfs fangs that might hurt.

when I was choosing my forum user name I did not assume that there would be such a dichotomy between my name and the other more ominous names of other members, so I simply chose my favourite pokemon gymleader

however if I was a bugsy, wolf would be no threat to be because I could always be the notorious mafia boss

In consequence, here's another character seen in the game, this one is my doing, and one of my first forays into character models and texturing- his name is "Isaac"

~isaac is a gifted acrobat, traceur, gymnast, and mirror's edge easter egg. he's also rigged very poorly!

imageflock.com/img/1358899262.png[/img]
~isaac works in FPSC for setpieces, however actual character versions of him do not animate properly for some reason.

I've seen some of these inner working before and I have to say that its coming together nicely. It takes quite a time to clash two styles together. I'm glad to the see the transition is rather smooth.

I'm loving the new weapons and can't wait to see some of the stuff I've heard about this game go into action.

All is looking great! The weapons, the level design, the character, even though a little bit like he has gotten punched in both of his eyes. But awesome work nonetheless.

Just out of curiosity, how did you create the sky box? Did you make a level using models?

Some WIP work on the Lower City, the dense underground slums housing most of the low level criminals, and impoverished citizens. It is largely self-governed despite officially being policed by the city's private police force. Apartments and flats are very inexpensive, however are typically impossibly cramped, and sublet to multiple people. Many do not have homes.

I haven't populated the streets with my crowd system yet. I want to get some nonplaceholder models.

My critic on this:

1.Great screens
2.Great weapons
3.Excellent use of light and effects

But also
-No characters in screens
-What is the genre (I like mixing up sci-fi/modern)

Keep up the good work

Quote: "No characters in screens"

wolf and i discussed this at length and as far as i'm concerned, characters in the scenery will just cover up the nice level design. however, characters are an integral part of the game, so i'm sure once I get crowds placed in these maps, i'll show them off too. i just wanna make sure i get characters who at are at a higher standard than default fpsc guys.

the genre is called "cyberpunk"

Oh my! How could I have not seen this before! Bugsy, will this be a commercial release? It's certainly worthy of it.

How many levels will there be in the full game. The level design is brilliant, you seem to be able to squeeze alot of detail into FPSC.

There is not one entity that is out of place that looks like it doesn't belong there. With you and Wolf working on a project you guys give a lot of inspiration to other members.

Do you have a specific deadline on when this will be done?

thanks landman, this will be free I believe, but future releases may be commercial. or maybe not, i'm not sure i'll discuss this with wolf.

I think there will be like 2-4 levels in this prologue. Kshatriya is a universe/series not a game. much like shavra. there's no deadline, but thank you so much for the compliments.

Still-WIP screenshots of the lower-city concept. this may go through a few more iterations as i'd prefer it a bit more "Favela" inspired rather than hong kong inspired but i may as well dump what I have now.

Looking good if I say so myself! I think the current look you are going for now looks pretty spot-on. I wouldn't mix cultures if it was me but since this is all fictional anyway, why not go ahead? Feel free to step outside a box you may have created. Sometimes that is where it is most hard.

Ok, I'm going through a second iteration of the lower city (there will be a third one) but this is what I've got setup atmosphere-wise so far. This is also the kind of environments you'll be seeing since, surprise surprise, this game is changing. It's kind of becoming a universe, and then ultimately thus downsizing the current project. I kinda need a hobby that will last me years so get ready for more kshatriyas. I'm just gonna make this to get the flow of episodes going over the months so i can establish something to keep me busy.

please, comment and give me your ideas for how to improve it (I've got some good ones planned thoguh)
