So...

Before I attempt to learn how to develop with Kinect; could someone buy me one? I'll send you my address and you can have it shipped for me, thanks.

Anyway, has anybody developed for Windows Kinect? I will do start to do some research because I want to create support for it in my product. Do you have any tips, any experiences you'd like to share.

Google for "kinect development". I saw several resources that I think would help you.

As far as buying you one, ummm no.

Yeah I know about the google search and there are also resources on MSDN and throughout the Microsoft documentation.

I was just asking if anybody had any personal experience with it, even if you have not developed for it and have only played with it, you will have more experience than me; is it any good, any issues with it?

I've looked at a number of comments throughout the net but wanted to see if anyone in the TGC community has any experiences with it; has anyone tried to get it to work with any TGC product? I am thinking I might have to create a wrapper or host for it.

Please don't post asking the community to buy you equipment. If you want money make a product and sell it like the rest of us have too!

I'm almost certain he was joking, I could be wrong though.

I have one and I've played it a little, the detection is good when there is only one player, I've found it can get a little tedious with two players, so I've you're developing something for a single player I'd say go for it.

I'm guessing it must be quite normal to actually expect such requests to be proposed in a serious nature around here; set of from my usual disposition, I guess I'd better not ask for,.. Anyway, sarcasm aside..

Handy to get your view on it Indicium, so do you think the gadget is accurate; no trouble performing actions or anything? I'm pressuming seated gameplay is a no-no; however being a sports game, standing up would be apt, although the micromanagement stuff would be a pain away from the mouse. I'm wondering how I could use the thing to have a soccer ball kicked in the game....

I'd probably have to wait until I get round to seeing the API before I decide whether or not to buy it; if I decide not to develop for it, no point buying it because I have no time for playing games.

I found that when the movement was large enough, it was very accurate, but I doubt it would be very accurate at detecting finger movements as shown in the Project Natal teaser.

I haven't used it in quite some time so I can't be very specific as I don't really remember all that much.

It can detect leg movements totally fine, I did play a football game when I first got the Kinect, it wasn't perfectly accurate but I suspect it was a limitation of the way the software was written rather than the detection capabilities of the hardware itself. (e.g, the direction the ball moved would often be wrong for where you moved your leg). As for the micromanagement, well that depends how complex.

On the Xbox 360, you simply hold your hand above GUI elements for a couple of seconds to activate them.

I see your point; but I will still go for it and add support for both Kinects.
