Been listening to a lot of Primus lately. Just picked up an acoustic bass and decided I needed to learn some songs that would make me seem awesome. So Far, I've learned Winona's Big Brown Beaver, Jerry was a Racecar Driver, My Name is Mud, and most importantly, Tommy the Cat:

Also been grooving on some undie Hiphop. Mostly, Eyedea, Dose One, And Aesop Rock:

Also, also been getting back into some Alice in Chains in anticipation for the new album:

Been listening to lots of french house and electro dubstep lately:

OWLSA is my favourite label nowadays. Great programming music. This song takes about a minute to pickup but it's soooo good. How can you not move your head to the rhythm?

Listening to this made me remember there's a looped sample with the big bad F word.

EDIT:

Ooh ooh! One more.. a Skrillex remix that is lovely:

I just turned 40 yesterday (scary that I was 27 when I joined the forums here). In a massive flood of nostalgia for when I was 16 I am at the minute only listening to INXS. *Sniff*

Interesting fact, Muse hail from a small town fifteen minutes from where I live, and caused complete gridlock when they played a free 'back to roots' gig there a while back.

I've been trying to get into X-Japan recently, a friend of mine is a huge fan of theirs.

It's a break from my heavier stuff I've been listening to lately, prior to this I've been listening to a lot of Anaal Nathrak, Behemoth, Psyclon Nine and Korpiklaani.

X-Japan are wonderful.

As for what I've been listening to lately, nothing in particular. Got the new Steven Wilson album yesterday, that was absolutely brilliant.

I'll just name some other recent albums that were really good.

I was listening to InFlames earlier, love this band, seen 'em live a few times and they know how to put on a show.

Pleased to say this was one of the crowds I was in to see In Flames, sure my feet were killing me and it was insanely muddy, but it was an awesome set.

Naturally, I've already got my tickets for Wacken this year. Mind you, you have to get them really early as they do sell out so quick (think they've been sold out for months now).

Oh and because I'm wearing their t-shirt, Saxon are a good crowd pleaser too:

I am surprised I've not heard this song in an episode of Sons of Anarchy yet, they've gone 5 seasons without it, despite the fact it's clearly a song for bikers. Oh well, their loss.

And people ought to realise by now, I am a Final Fantasy whore, but I do love the work of Nobuo Uematsu and think it's a shame he's no longer a part of the series, one of many great losses to the series mind you. Yes, I am showing my true colours as a geek here.

So, I've been listening to some Black Mages, with Nobuo on keyboard.

I think he should write some prog rock.

Also, I quite like this song, it's from the trailer for FFXIV: A Realm Reborn, a part of me is hoping their massive overhaul fixes the game, because if it does, I might regain a little faith in the series. This lady has decent vocals.

Link to the trailer.

Been listening to game soundtracks and nothing but atm. It's a weird addiction, I blame the return of Tridyrium's channel on YouTube.

I do love this soundtrack. Slavov did a great job developing the themes set down in Crysis 2, (which had 4 frikkin' composers. That's just silly.)

I'd love to see In Flames live One of my all time favorite bands, Colony was responsible for getting me into the heavier genres of metal, so yeah, I'm a typical fan of their older stuff

Other than that I've recently been listening to Morgul, not a well known musician but certainly good and unique, I accept the vocals are terrible in places though...

Forgot to mention in my other post, I've also been digging Ghost (B.C.)... not sure what to call them since they're only Ghost BC in the US. They're just... weird, and I love that. It's also a nice change from the generic awful music people attempt to pass as metal nowadays (ie Black Veil Brides and Asking Alexandria; sorry if you like those bands, I don't want to start a debate).

Definitely worth doing.

Another band I love listening to, I got to see them live when they supported Kamelot in London, but sadly their sound setup wasn't as good as it could have been, none the less they were amazing. So were Kamelot, this was just after Khan had quit, so Fabio from Rhapsody of Fire filled his spot and he was very good, he didn't sound like Khan, but it was interesting. Also I met Tom Englund by the bar at the end of the gig. Thankfully it was my second time seeing Kamelot, meaning I've caught Khan singing as well...and the new singer as well.

However, this is from Evergrey's 'A Night to Remember' concert in Sweden and apparently my boss is in the crowd somewhere at the front, so naturally I'm jealous of him as I've got the DVD and it's an awesome concert and I wish I was there.

I love Tom Englund as a vocalist.

You may also want to look into Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold, (as they're the vocalists in that song.)

You might not love all their songs, but you might find a couple you like, and there's nothing better than finding a new band to love. :3

Not a huge fan of Atreyu, but I used to love A7X. It just seems their spirit kind of left when Jimmy died...I thought Nightmare was definitely their worst album, but I have high hopes for their new one, whenever that comes out.

That's gotta happen. I mean, I love classics like A Little Piece of Heaven, which relied a whole lot on Jimmy.

I imagine you've heard of Pinkly Smooth then? It's his side project with Synister from A7X.

I still love A7X. I find their music amazing. Admittedly Nightmare wasn't as good as their other albums (Waking the Fallen is my favourite one) however their music is still awesome.

I like rock and metal mostly. I also like electro and dubstep but not as much...

I think we should start talking with signatures again!

If anybody's into symphonic metal or anything with a particularly gothic twist, Therion's a great band to listen to. I've caught myself listening to these this evening. Been listening to their Miskolc Experience live album, which is basically them and the Miskolc orchestra.

I like obscure music, this one is one of Therion's odd songs, I didn't know what to think of it at first, but it's very theatrical.

It's weird to think that they were originally an old school death metal band. In all honesty, from their death metal days to today I don't think I've disliked a single one of their albums.

Yeah, and Afterlife and (though I'm not a super-huge fan of) Almost Easy, too. Hopefully the new album is a nice rebound.

Listen to some classic Sabbath, well Black Sabbath when Ronnie James Dio was the vocalist.

Classic Track - Heaven and Hell. I freaking love this song.

Also from when I saw them live at Wacken (but when they named themselves Heaven and Hell)

Amazing. At first I didn't have a good spot, but when I moved it just sounded awesome. I was literally glued to the spot...well, figuratively I mean. It's sad that Dio died not so long after, I would love to have seen him again. I suppose when big artists like Dio show up, it's worth taking up the opportunity. Sadly, I've managed to miss Black Sabbath (with Ozzy), Judas Priest and Iron Maiden with every opportunity.

Still, caught The Scorpions last year (who, sadly, were disappointing for me) and this year Deep Purple is playing Wacken, I'm not a big listener of them, but it will be good to get to see them live. Rammstein's on the line up too and I've not seen them yet either. If Iron Maiden get announced this time (they've done Wacken a few times before), I'm going to scream like a Twilight obsessed teenager.

They're a great band, but I don't think the vocals were up to their usual standard. But hey, it wasn't all bad, I met a couple of drunk Finnish people .

compared to

Of course, I could take into account that they're old now, but it hasn't stopped Dio, Saxon, Maiden, Priest (granted Halford did have a throat operation which means he can't hit the same notes, but he's still a damn good vocalist), Sabbath and other great classics. Perhaps that's why I was disappointed. Still, musically they were great when I saw them.

I think Rock You Like a Hurricane was one of the songs they played better, but I think they must have had much better performances in their career...I mean they have been around for ages, so I am glad that I least got to see them perform live.

this thread, with all the embedded youtube vids, is wreaking havoc on my browser (IE9). at first, it took a solid 10 seconds + to completely load the page. then, a couple days ago, it skipped trying to load the vid previews and would immediately (either) leave white space where the vids should be or display the attached "failed to load"(?) screen instead (about 50/50 on either offering):

now that i've closed/re-opened my browser, it's back to the 10-second "no response from tgc.com..."/said "havoc" but does eventually get the vid previews loaded and appear normal.

is anyone else experiencing similar, here, or know of a solution?

all youtube functionality is fine on any other website so, no, i won't switch browsers...

thanks.
