Just curious here, what's everyone's WEI? (Does Win8 still do this?)

The Experience Index on my virtual PC's Windows 7 install is a blazing 1.0! I'll post my gaming PC's EI when I get it.

I wonder if ubuntu has something similar. Probably not.

Not too shabby. I'll upgrade my CPU at some point in the future, but that won't be for a long while. I also plan on adding more RAM (currently at 8GB, I'll add another 8GB when I feel like it).

Obese, it's in the system properties. (right-click on My Computer)

I doubt any other OS has this. I think it started with Vista. To be honest, the score are rather meaningless I think. 7.9 is the max score I think.

Mines 4.8, alright for a $560 budget laptop with integrated graphics
There are other benchmark programs for Windows and Mac, and there are probably one's for Linux as well (just google benchmark ubuntu, or search benchmark in the app store)

There are 10 types of people, those who understand binary and those who don't

I think a 7.9 is a pretty unreachable goal! I've heard it gets exponentially harder the higher rating it is.

Quote: "Does Win8 still do this?"

I think it does, but goes up to 9.9 rather than 7.9!

Its a pretty meaningless rating, but this is mine:

Anyways, I managed to get most of mine up pretty high(finally overclocked my i3 to 3.5GHz), but my disk drive seems to be pretty slow.

They limit HDD's to 5.9, the only way to get higher is to go SSD or RAID. I'm using a SATAII 7200RPM samsung eco edition, I get 5.9, my friend uses a SATAIII 7200RPM Caviar Black harddrive, he also gets 5,9 xD

BigAdd, is yours overclocked? Cause you got a higher score on the exact same CPU I have.

Isocadia, if you're looking for an SSD, I use a Mushkin and it's been great.

I use the CPU level up feature on my Asus motherboard, so it the clock goes up to 4.6GHz when under load, so it could be the case!

Indeed! Its the first time I've built myself a proper gaming PC, the last PC I built was more of a workstation, with a low-midrange graphics card. This time I just thought, to hell with it! I'm going for something high end!

I managed to cram it all in the Silverstone FT03 case, so I was pretty chuffed! Much better size than my old E-ATX Tower case!

It truly is a beast, that's for sure. I can't imagine using 32 GB of RAM for anything.

Btw, how much did it end up costing you? (Ballpark, I would guess around $2000ish?) Also, have you tried running Crysis on Ultra settings yet?

@ BiggAdd

That is an awesome rig. It'd be interesting to see what score you get with this: http://unigine.com/products/heaven/

I might actually open a thread about that.

Well, this is for my 4 year old gaming laptop on Windows 8

However, in a proper benchmark I'm sure it'd do worse on account of the graphics card not functioning to its full capacity.

I was at MicroCenter today and I looked at a laptop that scored 7.9 for it's CPU. It was only an i7-2.2GHz, how is that beating my i7-3770k @3.5GHz?! I seriously doubt that laptop model cpu is overclocked to outperform my desktop.

This is what I got:

What's up with my hard drive?

Here's what I actually got first because Windows can't handle something as simple as changing the colour scheme:

I use my computer a lot and the bright backgrounds hurt my eyes, but if I change it text becomes unreadable in many places. I can't believe I paid for this piece of crap OS! Never again. (That is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to my frustrations with Windows, but I wont bore you with any more lol. I just get annoyed sometimes because Windows makes computing unpleasant and frustrating.)

I got a 5.9, but because of my disk transfer speed. Other than that, 7.5 across the board. So...I'm making the executive decision and saying I have a 7.5

Some nerds at Ohio State just did a study on several SSDs and what happens if they suddenly lose power.

http://hardware.slashdot.org/story/13/03/01/224257/how-power-failures-corrupt-flash-ssd-data

13 out of 15 drives had some kind of failure. The ones that passed were MLC from 2012. So I'm safe with my Mushkin!

They were probably referring to power outages or perhaps using them in embedded devices.

Well I would be posting a picture of mine from my Windows desktop, but Windows 8 decided to try a new spontaneous black screen thing on me. Not sure I find it agreeable.

I scored around 5.9 on the hard disk, everything else was 7.1 or 7.2. Not bad for a 5 year old computer I think.

I did actually run it when I built the system as a stability test, but I can't remember what I scored! It was far better than my old system though, so I was happy with that!

I just ran that benchmark, this was the result:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/60818722/Unigine_Heaven_Benchmark_4.0_20130317_1703.html

It also said that my GPU maxed out at 89°C. I'm assuming it was actually measuring in Fahrenheit, but if not, at least I know my GPU can withstand pretty high temperatures.

Some cards can withstand that temperature, though it's pretty hot. Apparently the maximum my GPU can take is 105°C. So above boiling temperature. Enough for a cup of tea.

http://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-650ti/specifications

Mine usually averages around 65°c, but I've not tried that benchmark, maybe I'll give it a go.

I just looked at the temp of mine, it averages about 45°C when not running games. So the 89°C was probably accurate. It would probably help if I cleaned out the fans of my PC sometime (I think I've done it once in the year+ I've had it).

I ran that benchmark and my results seem odd.

http://zimnox.com/Unigine_Heaven_Benchmark_4.0_20130317_2139.html

I have the same card as budokaiman, except I have a gb more of memory on it than his. Even though he got higher frame rates at apparently higher quality settings, I ended up with a higher overall score.

Did another test, this time same settings as budokaiman. My score is way lower now, I don't get it.

Unfortunately I can't seem to get the Windows Index to work, but I can give my Unigine scores.

FPS: 20.6
Score: 519
Min FPS: 7.2
Max FPS: 47.4

Hardware:
OS: Win 8 Pro 64bit
Processor: AMD FX 6300
Card: GeForce GTX 650ti 1gb

Settings:
Direct X 11
Mode: 1920x1080 4xAA Fullscreen
High Shaders
High Textures
Trilinear Filtering
Anisotropy 4x
Occlusion Enabled
Refraction Enabled
Volumtetric Enable
Tessellation: Extreme

It looked good, I had it running at lower settings for a smooth FPS and it still looks damn good. Never properly seen tessellation in action, so it was an interesting benchmark.

Quote: "I'm running two 560's in SLI. Nice to know it makes a large difference."

I thought maybe that's what the x2 meant. But then where my quad core says x4 your 6 core said x3 so I wasn't sure.

Yea I'd say your SLI makes a difference!
