One hour ago I updated Java, and just got a remote computer attack. So if you updated today turn it off.

You should have Java disabled as a matter of principle - Java drive-bys are one of the most common causes of infection. Nothing should really be using Java applets nowadays with HTML5 and JS (scientific applets etc. aside). Disable it, and add exceptions for any sites which still need it.

In Firefox, go to [href]about:config[/href], and change plugins.click_to_play to True to disable all Java until you click on it to activate.

I read a post a while ago somewhere that there is infact a security risk with the newest java update, and it is easily exploitable by hackers, and a fix is not going to be out any time soon.

I think we should start talking with signatures again!

Wasn't there an uproar with Apple removing Java in recent update due to security concerns?

Why are you promoting bing at every available opportunity lately? I mean, you could have posted a link to the actual article http://www.techweekeurope.co.uk/news/microsoft-hack-java-china-108420. Not that I would ever suggest competing with google was a bad thing, it's just a curious trend I've noticed with you recently.

I use Bing... Is there anything wrong with that?

I wanted to share the list of results... So why go through so much work when I can link the whole result?

I hardly use google these days for much... Getting tired of their pathetic efforts at making things functional...

Bing works fine for me, as does my WP8 8X device, my SGSII is just useless after 4.0.4 was released... Anyway no point ranting about a personal viewpoint...

End of the day you like to use Google, I like to use Bing some people like to use Yahoo... So I do not fully understand your point there... Why call it promoting? That I find a bit nonsensical really...

Anyway, Beer buddy?

@Pincho-

Java "attacks" are actually quite old and predate this update. I've gotten several viruses through the JNI, and I feel that Java has lost its place on the World Wide Web.

I never heard about that, but it would be pretty stupid to remove Java from your computer altogether. Java offers cross-platform support, and is therefore very valuable. Desktop programs are a good application of Java.

@MrValentine-

Yahoo is associated with Microsoft as well. You could have suggested DuckDuckGo or Youdao, but you're a commercial sellout so I can't say that I'm surprised.

I did say that it was on Apple computers that it was removed.

But yeah, don't understand why you'd link the search page as opposed to the actual article. Anyways, I don't see any problems with Google, I use their services quite happily, as well as MS's...
