Yes. Usually ideas tend to get over-complicated. But I've always felt that games I come back to on handhelds are games that you just turn on and chase a high-score on, such as Zookeeper or Tetris and the like.

Added to this will be bonus objects, a life-meter and some other fluff

And obviously shapes can spawn at different beats too, and two can spawn at once, and other variations.
