Got this error:

Failed to load OpenGL extension glCreateShader

What causes this?

It means your graphics card may not support OpenGL 2.0, check if there is a driver update for your card.

Well, it's not mine, it's a tester.
Is there a way to return / check the OGL version in code?

I would have thought OGL2.0 was pretty standard these days?

Not necessarily, some older devices may only of OGL 1.0, and even older ones might not have OGL at all.

And not everyone keeps everything completely up to date.

There is an app for Android named GLESView or GLView (the app name says one thing and the icon another). Search for 'OpenGL Extensions Viewer' in Google Play. It will tell you if OGL is installed, the version and what extensions are supported.

Some integrated video cards (notably Intel's line) may only support OpenGL 1.0. Others support it but not unless the user updates their video card drivers instead of using the default drivers Windows loads.

You can download a Windows or Mac version of OpenGL Extensions Viewer from this page.

What is the minimum vs / ps shader level supported and is there a way to check for it?
